I still think Rockstar doesn't have THAT much money to spend. They still need money to use on employees and make sure they don't go bankrupt. I tried finding a link on how much money they currently have, and I couldn't find one. If anyone can help me out with that.

What isn't a port right now? King Kong looks the same as Perfect Dark Zero.

And it's not 2D to 3D have you played the original Metal Gear Solid? It's in 3D, that was the whole new thing for the Ps1 and N64 generation.

Lol never played MGS series lol...

And what isnt a port right now,

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The (dont consider it as a port becuase it was made for 360)
Dead or Alive 4
Call of Duty 2 (dont consider it as a port becuase it was made for 360 the PS2 and Xbox version is totally different game... But there is CoD2 on PC)
Project Gotham Racing 3
Condemned: Criminal Origins
EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 (maybe a port, but seems like they built the whole game from ground up for the 360)
Moto GP 2006
Perfect Dark Zero
Kameo: Elements of Power
Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis

And there is a few others, all the game i listed atleast have good graphics. And even though some games like GRAW is a port, they still built the game for the 360, unlike Dynasty Warrior and etc.

They're also number one in most lawsuits.

Dead or Alive 4

Hardly a Next Generation graphic game. It looks like a slightly powered Xbox.

It's a port, originally for PC only.

The other versions of graw came out after Xbox360, so it's port, but not to the Xbox360.

I think you both should read up on http://www.microsoft.com/xna/

All these ports on Pc and 360 are about to be....well not ports. They will be able to be constructed under one code back with minimal modifications.

Also GRAW had been made for the 360. They then took that design and completely remade the graphics engine and then released it on PC.
Although I would say GRAW has been developed for the 360 and PC and therefor is not a port but rather redesigned.....the Pc version..well I would have prefered a crappy port than wtf they did to it.

It was "ported" to ps2, original xbox, and PC. I know it was originally for Xbox360.

To tell you the truth, King Kong's engine was from the movie. I doubt that Rockstar would be liscened to Unreal Engine 3.

Well define ported? When they start doing heavy modifications to the engine I no longer call it ported. While the game still was a P.O.S., the fact is that they redeveloped the game for the PC by doing heavy modifications on the engine.

For example BIA was ported to the Pc. They basically got it to work on the PC and left it at that. The game was buggy and stupid.

Or at least we can have subdivisions of ported. There are quick ports and redeveloped ports. For example HL to HL:S would be a quick port. BIA to PC would be a quick port. Cs to CS:S would be a completely redeveloped port. So while you may be grammatically correct I just would like to help define what im talking about. So for example GRAW on the Pc would be a redeveloped port.

So your saying they used an engine that was built to make pre-rendered shots probably using ray tracing as a real-time engine? I can confirm this, no game on the market uses ray tracing.
I'm not even sure if movies use engines? I believe they would do everything in 3DS Max or Maya or some other modeling program. Apply some sort of nodes onto the model. Then take a guy in a green suit that has sensors connected on him to compute how he moves and then basically take the model and replace it with him on a computer. This is how most movies get done. For example this is how gollum was done in LOTR movies. I'm not sure if there is any real engine behind this but rather a set of individual tools and a lot of modelling talent.

If there is an engine behind them....a movies engine would be VERY different and work in a very different way. Ray Tracying would most definently be used in a movies engine.

I didn't mean to put PC in there. But your subdivisions of porting was a good idea either way.

they arent... they made there own engine for the new GTA game.. And true about that GTA does have most lawsuit... forgot that lol...

Min knew about XNA, microsoft makes great stuff lol biggrin.gif..

expect doesnt seem like vista coming out to great. However, DirectX 10 is.

Vista should come out great. I mean right now it is running all the debugging applications running. They havn't enabled optimizations. All the driver support is beta especially video drivers because they have to be completely rewritten for DX10.
Vista should see a good 100 - 200mb in memory usage drop just like Xp 64bit did by the time of its final release.

Even if it dosn't(which would make on sense), how Vista handles applications mainly full screen applications such as games has drastically improved.
