Unless you're doing a LOT of 3d rendering, why would you even NEED that much power? At a certain point, graphic detail becomes indistinguishible to the human eye.

20/5 vision for the win.

I want to murder that friend of yours and steal his computer. I demand to know where he lives.

Fiber optics actually ARE here. Verizon FiOS is available in some parts of the country already. It definitely trumps normal DSL, and the prices start at only $35/month for 5 mbps, which is only $5 more than my DSL service but more than 3 times as fast.

In addition, $45/month gets you 15 mbps, bam it beats cable too.

Movies and songs.  He has six 750GB hard drives (his comp is totally insane, dual 7950GT2's, the works.

Why the hell would you run sLi on a 7950GT2.. Not even needed -_- I feel bad for whoever pays the electricity bill..

Can you get more of his computer specs?

And why/how does he have six 750 GB hard drives...? Are they external? I'd rather have like 150GB Raptors in RAID smile.gif

What's his processor? Probably FX mellow.gif
I guess it's just to make the computer as fast as possible Demaris. Although you'd probably be fine with like a 7800GT right now... let alone a 7950GTx2...(or, 2 of them in sLi)

Lucky people, it's either this slow dial-up or cable for me (and I obviously can't afford to get cable).

This whole neighborhood is just too old to put DSL in sad.gif

Verzion Fios is HELLA nice. If you can get it, you should. It was tested in Keller, Texas, right where I live and had this huge party with Computers set up with Fios on them and you could give them a test run. Too bad I am 3 blocks too far from getting it -.-

I live in an area without Cable or DSL and a ton of trees(freaks wireless). 56k vs Satelite. Satelite = 2000 ping times and bandwidth limits and more costs. 56k = ~200 - 250 ping times, no bandwidth limit, and costs less even with second phone line.

You gotta be like 10 - 15 miles close to the SBC place.... noo where like 1 - 2 extra freaking miles. God damnit. DSL's cheaper to.

Yeah, as I've said, not all places have the service. Secondly, Deathhawk, if I can't afford it then it's too expensive for me.

You must have an Ipod and expensive clothes, living in your little middle middle class niche, eh?

Bourgeis.

I wasn't referring to whether it's cheap for you, but neither were you...

iPod was stolen, I have 2 pairs of pants that I wear.

T3 is very expensive, and you're not supposed to have T3 in your house... but cable is pretty cheap, considering what you are getting.
Just because you can or cannot afford it doesn't make it expensive for others.
Regardless, the 60$ a month or so is a solid price for what you are getting when you purchase cable.

Alot of you guys don't seem to realize two things:

Cable/T3 etc. are very expensive.

And finally, I'd appreciate it if you spelt my name correctly..

Edit. "Bourgeis" = "Bourgeois"

Sadly, his processor is only something like a Athlon 64 4000x2 dual core. After spending $1100 on graphics cards, apparently he didnt get an FX-62.. don't ask me why. It's actually my friend's friend so I'd have to call him if I wanted the full specs. needless to say, it's insane. I think the HDs are internal, he has a huge case.

Heh, still nothing to complain about.. even though I'm pretty sure you can get the same speeds of a 4000x2 with a 3800x2.. but damn.. that's a lot of money he's spending...

He should get I-RAM smile.gif

Wow, that computer sounds insane, I'm dreaming about a 300gb hard drive. My HD right now is like 20gb and two backup HDs รก 18gb. But back to the topic, did you actually know that Sweden is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to broadband.
