Why can't you load SCU? Noone had problems with it before, maybe you should change your browser settings or something?
Its the fact that I have free internet, the side affect for it being free there is a frame. If that frame is ever disabled it refreshes over and over. Except on a few sites I.E. hotmail, ebay, myspace, gameswroshop and a few others that ive stumbled apon.

Yesterday, i and Kookster found out starange problem of binedit which SF made

i thought u guys are have been edit bin file with hex edit or just edit by making imagination
but i and kooster realized that i wasn't wrong anything at all to operating in binedit

kooster sent me his captured video which screen of Binedit working process
there are totally different displaying with my operate response

in kooster's video , when he did refresh binedit by type F1 two times and click
menu directly then there was displaying UI in screen and i could see bineidt does work for him

but that doesnt work for me, yes i did all operation rightly my steps are totally same with him

but that doesnt display work for me at all
Also i sent my captured vidoe which my screen to him
and he saw what i was right to do and that doesnt work for me
there is nothing to show screen even though
i did all perpectly

so i could tell here, SF's binedit doesnt work for some of system
what is more serious, it doesnt happen for most of korean modders
they didn't get work with binedit like me

they ask me oftenly like this
"how can i see each buttons and items ? there is nothing
even thogh i load file and all operation doesnt work anything
there was no responce at all"

i don't why it is doesnt work for me and most korean modders
but i can just guessing

maybe it doesnt work for korean version of window or something
becuzz i tried it on Window 98 and 2000 and xp they was all korean windows
the result was binedit doesnt work for all windows versions
but i haven't try on any english version of windows
cause i already confirmed it does work for kooster's system

anyways .. i'm not asking for fix it to working for korean version or for me
i just tell here i wasnt wrong anything so dont misconceive my saying

thats all wat i want, actualy i don't need bin editing currently

Oh! I just realized something when nirvanajung mentioned those different things in his post. I had sort of forgotten about this. There is some obscure bug in older versions of my data manipulation code for VB (it doesn't affect any of my current programs that I can still update). When Windows is set to Korean, Japanese, or Chinese; it will make some of the data be improperly converted between the binary data that is read and the variables in which it will get stored in the program. This can cause various inconsistencies to appear when editing, or something like that.

I've actually seen some of this kind of thing as well; while I had one of my computers set to Korean for its default language settings. For now the only solution is to change your computer's language settings to one other than those 3 while using the affected programs. Specifically, the code-page in Windows needs to not be one of them that is for one of those 3 types of languages.

What does BinEditing do anyways? Is it a worthwhile skill to learn?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheNomad on 2007-01-17 at 19:15:44
First you should know there are 3 types of bin files:

- animation scripts (IScript.bin)
- AI scripts (aiscript.bin and bwscript.bin)
- menu data scripts (any other bin file)

BinEdit let's you change a few things about the menu, but the tool still needs a bit of work smile.gif Although it isn't bad at all.

I tried it myself, and I've confirmed that BinEdit doesn't work when that setting you pointed to with "<- English" is set to Korean. Whenever I try to load a file, all of the settings come up as 0's.

Simply changing that specific setting to English or any other language besides Korean, Japanese, or Chinese should make it so BinEdit works. There is no need to uncheck those other settings; it works fine on my system when I have them checked.

Show me a screenshot of the Properties window in BinEdit with a .bin file open, when you have that setting changed to English. If it is working, the numbers in there shouldn't be all 0's when a bin file is open.

yes... i was show u just one above which have uncheck those three language settings
i have checked and unchecked either for try in each times surely
but when I have them checked , all of the settings come up same before

Anyway... it's need more time cause i tried that through my business computer at work time
i'd try that with other computers to to compare response when I get around to it

You didn't actually show a screenshot of the properties with an open .bin file while the codepage was set to English. That screenshot has the part I'm asking for cut off of it. I got the same behavior you described when I set mine to Korean, and it worked fine after changing it back to English, so I'm thinking it should work for you, too...

i remember that without fail when I set default language to Eng and
after that when i have opened .bin file while the codepage was Eng

there was all 0's for each all properties

but i dont know why i just could guessing it, maybe something difference of my business PC causes come up like that

anyway i'll try that through another PC which have same OS, when I get around to it

I think I'll make a test program using that older buggy code that will say whether Windows is configured such that my earlier programs will work correctly or not; it might help.

Yeah, it has something to do with that, I think.
