What sort of Mac would that be? An iBook G4 can hande it here. I removed some RAM to prove it..

PROCESSOR: 1.33ghz

RAM: 512mB

GRAPHICS: Mobility Radon 9600 32mb

I don't think that it is that bad for you... Although after putting the ram back in I am going back to my cube.. way better...

Happy Macing.

Any way you might be able to make it have less lag for us with the 10 year old computers?

Its a wonderful map, but extremely big for only a few spawns and the base is pretty big too.(Unless your going to use the same map for 2 and 3?)

I also wanted to say that when I chose the arbiter Cockpit, and 1 guardian weapon, I also had the pointer. The arbiter tried to go to the guardian and the guardian just started twirling around... So it took forever for my mech to reach my pointer.

(btw I started to make somthing likethis a while back but I dont have near the skill like you to do so, so g/j, theif happy.gif )

Are you saying the cockpit was stuck for some reason trying to move to where you placed the pointer? That bug has happened before but I've been unable to track it down or replicate it. Try doing various things like changing modes or just waiting a short while and it might go away.

And yes, the empty space is for mk.2 and 3. That's when I add in the gameplay progression and other stuff.

Hydra turns to lurker eventually
and doesn't die. It sorta messed with how i switched modes
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-04 at 00:17:03
? How so? Lurker shouldn't do anything to affect mode switching.

If the lurker ends up morphing then chances are you've probably kept help off long enough to not want it anyway. tongue.gif

Though I consider it an awesome game despite missing a lot, the lag is really killing me. Even in a 2 player game with both players having pretty fast computers and internet connection, there remains the lag issue.

Is there really no way to decrease it while still keeping all of the triggers in tact?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-04 at 02:08:53
Well the problem is mainly I don't know where it's coming from. I've played near full house games before with minimum lag, but I can only assume everyone had decent connections and computers then.

Realize there's over 4.5k triggers in this map. I think it'd gonna be hard not to lag.

If only blizzard's trigger system was more robust...

I believe that it is more than safe to say, that Tuxedo-Templar, is a God of StarCraft Map Making.

The abilities I've seen him create by far surpass any and all by others.
[I'm not saying someone can't be BETTER than Tuxedo, though at the moment, I don't think so]

You continue to amaze me and many more Tuxedo-Templar, keep up the magnificent work. ^_^

While you are shopping with hints off (lurker egg) and buy a unit that is too expensive, then switch lurker egg off to view the price, MCing only tries to buy the unit. You have to leave the room and re enter again to get the price to show for that unit. Somewhat annoying minor bug.

Also, personal opinion, but the cost of the best armor (factory) is quite cheap and makes it too easy to build massive defense.

i dont know exactly how i did it, but i had the bug that i had no mech matched and my civ was then in the left upper room with an Overlord (the escape unit)
and i had many times the txt msg that no mech matched or sth in that way (green text), I was in my friendly lower base...

all in all i couldnt do sth after that..... I was p1 (red)

i tried to refund before, maybe that was the reason.....

i try to recreate the bug... happy.gif
but u should better have a look on it....

ok, here the bug:
I (p1 and maybe other players too) can't use the wheeld chassi (duke tank) as a cockpit.....

what I had to do:
-civ pilot
-refund goon cockpit
-exit, buy wheeled chassi (duke's tank)
-exit
-walk a bit to a empty area in the base, so i was alone and had enough room to enter the mech mode without problems
-recall (the mech entering funktion) (unloaded the ling, left upper in ovi)
-had to wait till gas is at 0
- got many sounds and txt msgs that no mech was found
- duke tank was destroyed in left upper area, txt msg
- I got a civ and an overlord in that region, lost my civ in friendly base

I have a suggestion. Can you make computer controlled mechs with special spawns? All the computers deployables are easy to take out even in mobile mode, a computer controlled mech spawn would be really cool.

That comes later. I have some ideas for that in the gameplay progression stage (Mk.2).

Actually you can just select a new unit then re-select the purchase you want (after help off) and you'll go back to normal. I know why it's doing that and I'll try to fix it later. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yeah I'll buff nerf the factories too.

Nice going. Never had that problem before. Sounds to me like the cockpit was being cached as some part of the triggers and the follow location decided to move with it. I can probably fix that by adding a failsafe to the follow location triggers not to follow when the cockpit is inside the cache (or refund or other non-playing areas).

Thanks for pointing that out.

I've have that problem as well... Note that I was running in Singleplayer mode.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2007-01-04 at 21:25:53
Well here are some problems i have discovered for the map.

-Boring alone
-People find the gameplay slow, boring
-Meaning no one to play with
-Won't play the map for along time
-lag big map size
-NEEDs more start gold to speed up gameplay

I enjoy the map and understand how to play and find it fun but not alone.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-04 at 22:37:08
It's not meant to be played alone. At least not yet.

I'm hoping when I add the gameplay progression later on things start to come together. Remember this release is just the core features, which I wanted to see how well they'd fare by themselves.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2007-01-05 at 17:16:38
My beefs...
-Everything is choppy as hell
-Lower gas when we get refunds please. tongue.gif
-Tanks are too strong/build too fast/cost too little. Chuiu wins with SCV and never building his mech at all. tongue.gif
-Deployment gas costs are generally too high.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-05 at 17:23:42
Yeah I'll fix the gas costs by Mk.2. I'm hoping to replace the longass deployment delay with an overheat system, so the gas has a more direct function to gameplay instead of slowing everyone down.

I'll fix the tanks later as well, too. They're easy to counter if you use the right strategy with your mech, by the way. But I agree they're a bit too accessible and powerful.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Grand_Dracolich on 2007-01-05 at 17:36:22
I always buy ATG launchers the first chance I get, so tanks r generally no problem tongue.gif.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lord_Jeremy on 2007-01-05 at 20:56:37
Is it a bug that occasionally the tanks unseige and go attack the enemy? If not, might I suggest disabling the seige tech ability for the computer players?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-05 at 21:04:23
It is a bug. And siege mode is disabled.

Hmm.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2007-01-05 at 23:54:58
Tanks in seige mode owned by computers never really paid much to heed to whether or not it was researched.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Tuxedo Templar on 2007-01-06 at 00:01:48
Yes I noticed. tongue.gif I think I know why it's doing that, too. Found a location giving out orders that one of the tanks was in by accident.

Moooooose wait next time before posting my maps as news. tongue.gif I do appreciate the feedback but now I feel like I've gone and let everyone down by having an unfinished version. Oh well.

Fix the unit lag!! Today me and Gigins were playing and for some reason the others who joined said that the intro takes to long and they started leaving. We kept on playing then some guy got P*ssed off saying how its hard to play. And he said the map sucked! What could cause the unit lag besides 4k triggers?
