Like it or not, that's what FLAGS look like. We aren't designing corporate Web 2.0 logos, we're designing a flag. Read up on vexillology before you start dishing out criticisms.

I stole it from Starcraft, I converted one of the .smk files they use in the game to an .avi and edited it into that.

Here, I'll show you guys some things that the GPA uses.
By all means none of these are our flag. Our flag is in the first post by CW. But notice how all our images match each other so nicely. We base them around something. and 2 matching colors(white and green)

DEAD, look at Latvia's flag, it's two red stipes and 1 white one. I guess someone was painting it for quite a while.
The time put into it doesen't matter; the thought does. I know that the Latvian flag resembles blood being spilt on white material. That was their thought and symbol. Our symbol, the globe, expresses everything we want to say.
