I know how you could do that, though it would require several computer players, plenty of triggers, and be extremely prone to bugs.

" If there are more than one person casting dark swarms in the same place you can't tell who cast it."
I was asking why, with the weapon system originaly stated in the beginning of the thread, you wouldn't be able to choose a target.  Please pay more attention.

Ok EZ, this is what I believed he said.

You control ONE unit, a civilian. When you are fighting an enemy, you STILL will only control ONE unit, the civilian. The unit that will actually fight the enemy will be a computer controlled unit dark templar that will follow your civilian. The dark templar WILL be the one that is fighting, not you. The problem is since YOU don't control the dark templar and the COMPUTER does, YOU can't order the dark templar to attack a specific target. I hope you understand.

How about this: You have the 'Civilian' system with the civilian and a 2x2 location centered on the civilian.

Your weapon is a unit controlled by the player. And then, have triggers like this:

Conditions:
Switch 'Gun Equipped' is set
Player 1 brings at most 0 'Gun' to location 'Civilian'

Actions:
Move all 'Gun' owned by 'Player 1' at 'Anywhere' to 'Civilian'
Preserve Trigger

Would this work? smile.gif

ALL weapon system in thought of

1.Dropship Duh
2.bringing units to loaction to switch weapons.
3.Invatory system i made up.... Where you bring a unit to a location and theres a lot of weapons there and bring 1 weapon to exit the invotry and you use that weapon.
4.Create a unit to switch weapons.
5.Kill a unit to switch weapons
6.create a dark spawn to switch weapons
7.Build a building to switch weapons

Thats all i can think of....

For an old FPS i did, my trick was to enable different levels of view by using different units with view for the player, (4 players) and where you shoot with teh defiler it would become the target and would explode in a few seconds, depending on choice of gun, and anythign there would be sent to side of map for a few seconds of damage, and then brought back.

For a single player system, i just have a intoceptor going along, and it got centred on its way to targeta and if it hit anything it got a random damage from some units on the side of map...

i like it but 1 more idea and i dont know if its been said yet. You should be able to carry a bunch of weapons but only be able to use one. so basically give all other weapons your holding to neutral then when u switch weapons you can give back to the player.

i personly like the good old fason battle system. you're a guy and you have a gun and you shoot.
