The ads with the big image files kinda bother me... But the ones with just plain blue text are ok... Is there anyway to get pick and choose which ones will show when you refresh your browser?

Heh, I had the same problem when I had a website. I first started out with a friend hosting me, then as my site grew, it ate up nearly 95% of the bandwidth. So he told me I had to get my own host... Then one of the members on the forum actually paypal'd me $70 and I was able to get my own web domain for a year. It's officially gone now because I can't afford another year and I lost interest in websites.

Really. There are tons of great free webhosting with no ads and domain for only like $11/year. google for it for a few minutes...

i dont mind the advertising at all if it will help keep sen up

90% of why I came here was cause of the no ads..
5% was to ruin everyone's fun.
The remaining 5% was to download SCXE when I couldn't find a good version long ago.

See it from my point of view. How fair is it for me to provide free services and lose money while I'm doing it?

If I can host a few good people, then I'll take it down. Simple as that.

Reever said hes going for the 20 dollar plan. If he actually does, I can take the ad down, because it'll cost me less to run the site (but still a lot, I'll be dependant on donations)

I got one big one just today. Its the first one I've had in a while.

Before, I had like two smaller ones when I first got the thing.

Yoshi, for get money you could make some "special accounts", like:

10$ Gold Account: double post, post on news topic, ...
15$ ....

And add more items to the shop and an option for buy minerals, like:

1$ = 10 minerals

I disagree with the special accounts, but minerals for $ sounds like a good idea. I would give 20 Minerals for a dollar.

Quite possibly more than that, seeing as how you can earn up that dollars worth in just a few posts.

Or maybe start putting certain restrictions on certain aspects of the sites, like giving a 500kb limit per map upload to 'free accounts', while 'SEN' accounts get much more over that. And maybe just a little extra status for those donating money, like some sort of icon near their avatar.

And how much bandwidth is this site using? You can really be surprised by how much a site uses sometimes; I play on a browser-based RPG which uses over a tetrabyte of bandwidth per day.

That's because someone paid and got them removed.

I'm not actually allowed to make money off Starcraft maps. In the Licence agreement it states a whole load of things I'm not allowed to do with maps.

However, since minerals aren't under the control of blizzard, I could possibily do 100minerals/US$

the best place for ads is clicksor. they only use text ads, and you can customize the colors etc.
