Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Is The War In Iraq Justified?

I say No but now that the USA is there they should clean up their mess and then get the hell out of there.

I'm probably the only one that will say it was justified, only because I wanted to show the other side.
Bush would never go to war without good reason to; he believed Iraq was hiding weapons of mass destruction. He did not just jump into a war because he wanted to conquer a nation. How can you say there was no threat? Of course there was a threat. The weapons inspectors found nothing because Iraq is not is stupid as you think. Put yourself in Saddam's position, "Hmm, America is coming soon to check our country for weapons." Well do you think he just sat around and just left incriminating evidence around, No. I'm guessing he was smart, and had all of the weapons moved to a safer, friendly country, so he would not be caught.

I dont think Saddam could have hidden weapons in another country like that, first what country would that be? second, dont you think the US was watching iraq all the time with satelites and all that kind of stuff and would ahve noticed if they were moving lots and lots of weapons?

Also I think that the US should have waited until the inspectors were done and given Blix the time he wanted to finnish his searching.

The war is not justified. Bush said that Saddam has Nuclear and biological weapons, but none were found. Something was dug up that caused soldiers to have red rashes. It turned out to be pesticides and manure.

We had very good reason to go to Iraq; unfortunatly Bush did not manipulate these reasons well enough, which allowed the public to see he was after revenge, oil, and a bigger ego.

You may say that we should pull out now, but I wonder how plausible that would be. We blew up (in the generalist of terms) Germany during WWI, let them pay for what we did, and so they retaliated years later with a freaky ass army. I think that is one of the minor motives why Bush hasn't withdrawn from Iraq. The other reasons is for money and oil. Lots and lots of oil.

Oil? he didnt withdraw because like WWII after hitler died, there were still nazis fighting, and now there are still saddam followers fightin cause they think they still have a chance, if we left earlier those censored.gif (saddam followers) wouldve attack Iraq's new leaders and force us to free saddam, easy as that and if he wanted oil, y didnt he take any yet?

I remember seeing footage of the war, and the first structures that American soldiers were guarding were the oil networks.

Presumably to stop Iraqi soldiers from blowing it up and causing pollution, but there are rumours...

Just a little quote for the rest of you guys to wrap your minds around. Dubya started this whole debacle, and now, even though Operation Iraqi Freedom was declared "accomplished" back in April 2003, the hostilities themselves have yet to end.

No. Just because they are killing people in their own country just for oil.
It would be more reasonable they kill Bush for being such an as*hole!

They have gotten rid of saddam, so they should go back to America. Shouldn't they???

Nah they actually think Irak needs help with reinginering a decent gov.... which is probably wrong since they're obviously making things worst.

They should, but Iraq is too much of a mess to leave unattended right now.

They're not even trying to see if they can first setup something decent; they immediatly concluded that "it was a lost case". That's not how you should how in a FOREIGN country...
