Holy
... I think I just went blind from looking so close, but I saw it!
High is a short name, yay
Its supposed to be hardly noticable so that I wont look like a loser spamming my name every chance I get
. Its just there so that Map Stealers will know that for sure there is almost no way of stealing my map unless they are 1337. Its like a fail safe.
im planning on throwing map revealers on my maps but have my name in the fog of war so people couldnt detect it unless they had the original to open and view the fog of war layer
Any string (text) related thing is easy to change. For protect your name put it on the terrain or fog of war. Anyway if Darky releases his unprotector nothing of this will help.
Im sure somone will bust out with a fabo map protector neways. What was that one map protector where if you edit the map the map wont work correctly when you play it? There was an old golems map where when you edit it in any way when you play the map it says you have edited it and shows a bunch of creatures in the middle and the map wont start creating golems etc. What was that all about?
Nobody will bust out a map protector that Darky's unprotector won't be able to counter. He's planning on making a program that will totally restore the .chk. I wonder if he's going to try to repair the ISOM section somehow?
On a more relevant note, you could always put a space or two before and after your name, so if someone searches a .chk for your name they might have a hard time finding it. Mix it up for all of the different instances of your name.
think that Blizzard would step in and make a new patch that would allow new types of map protection?
Send Blizzard a check for a couple thousand and maybe they might. There's nothing really in it for them... they make money off the games we buy... do you think they care to release an update which they'll have to pay programmers to make, just to make a bunch of kids happy? I seriously doubt it.
It's not hard to beat that, crispie. 3 steps:
1. Create a map the same size.
2. Write your own name on the fog of war
3. Copy fog of war section from 1 map to the other.
Or you could just replace it with a blank one.
Anyone know what I was talking about earlier? ITs some wierd type of map protector that changes the whole game if you edit one thing, read my other post to see a better description.
The golem's map had one of the mineral chunks that Staredit won't let you place by default and a trigger so that if the unit wasn't there you lost.

Nice trick, but if you do it with sprite-units even SCXE will remove it =)
I know how to make almost - uncrackable protection... it just would be a pain to utilize...s
care to share some technics there? =)
Make it so the terrain speels your name, and it is used. A bound based on your sn is very ahrd to change, and they might as well make a new map because it might be easier. I'll keep thinking. Sprites is a good idea. You can also spell your name with nuke dots, people will osmetimes not notice those if they are out of the way.
I rememerb a map that you could find when you needed to play it, but it wouldn't show up in any staredit lists. You had to type out the name of it to open it, which i did by accident, lol, it was a short name. But I wonder what did that.
Also, spread your map as fast as possible, so everyone knows who made it before it gets majorly hacked and edited. I'll think of somehting better soon.

copyright your maps...

Thats impossable, its already copyrighted. Blizzard owns copyrights to all starcraft maps try widely selling your SC maps and you will learn this quick when blizzard sues you.
Oh yeah for the hell of it i edited crispies screen shot. I changed the brightness so you could easly see his name in the fog.
the hidden map
is when the file is 'hidden' and it doesnt show up in the map lists, i do that with my test maps after they're tested and otehr maps=)
lol hidden maps, i suppose that would stop a few people. But if the person has the skill to hexedit the map you would think they are aware of hidden files and know how to view them.
Thanks U Bolt, I really think Fog of War seems good enouph, and it is barely noticable, yet tgood enouph so where you can tell for sure the true maker.
mmm, incase any of you are still woried about that unprotector i'm not making it.
Ding Dong the witch is dead!
Just wondering, was there any reason why you stopped? Too much :censored:ing?
I have explained it to too many people. just be happy
