I used to like the old system. Just add a couple of more ranks after level 5 and thats it.

Anyways yes, this new system eliminates the race for the most posts.
But the new system does have this: No one(except yoshi) has halfway green bar. Which kinda makes it look like we are all new people.

It'll go up high enough... Just be patient for a month or two.

I believe it's less work also, since all the animated pics aren't made just with code.

I like the color idea, as a store item. Like in Dark Age of Camelot, you can buy dye for you armor or cloak. Now you hould be able to color your bar for like $50.

Have green be basic color. Blue, purple, red, black, etc. be buyable.

I would SO buy that item!

And we'd make it 2000 minerals so you would SOOO not buy that item

(as it is, most items are overpriced anyway [or at least not accessible for everyone] )

Yoshi... I just got an idea.
Have the bar be twnety bars.
Then base rank on PERCANTAGE of the posts.
IE, those in the 96-100th percentile would have a full bar.
Those in the 21-25th percentile would have five bars.
And so on for the other numbers.

Either that or base rank on the karma system GameFAQs uses.

% of posts out of what? The entire forums?

I never liked Karma... Seems unfair to me in same ways (if we're talking about the same karma)

Don't like the post % based idea either xD. Most oldies will see their bars being dragged into oblivion while newbies will get all the fame (jk)

Nah, I don't like Moose's idea. Just keep it the way it is, it's much better than displaying post counts.

Also, how is Participation calculated?

I meant percentage relative to the person with the most posts on the forum (100%). IE, if highest post count is 3000, somebody with 600 posts would be in the 20th percentile, and have 4 bars.

ADDITION: Killer, I never said to enable post counts.

Participation is the % of days on the forum where you have posted at least once... I think.

Is there already a script for that? Or you have to program everything from scratch?

I don't think that would be a good idea Moose. Cause think about it, each time the top person with the highest amount of posts makes a post, it could effect the percent for other users and would change their image file. This happening a lot each day could eat away at bandwidth.

Thats not a bad idea methinks. I'll see what I can do when most of the primary coding is complete.

The highest post count now is probably over 2000. For a new rank image, you would have to go up or down into the next area of at least 5 percent. That would be a hard thing to do with one post.

He would if he safe-deopsited his minerals in bank and saved them.
