It's horrible.. I hope that part of Asia has learned its lesson about Tsunamis like the U.S.A., Japan, and other parts of the world.
The amount of deaths is probably going to get higher by the day, with millions homeless and/or needing food/clean water.
If anyone doesn't care about this event, they deserve to be shot.

There's no way they could have known. In fact, some people did know how to handle the situation. There was some group of people that saved a village, but it was 100 something, out of the already 150,000 dead. Can't find the lnik, but this is interesting.

First survivor in 3 days. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...n_re_as/tsunami This guy has been waiting for over a week, everyone else that wasn't rescued is probably dead.

QUOTE
2 days after the tsunami, Inda recieved a call from a company in Portland, Orgeon saying that another tsunami was headed straight for them. This caused wide spread pannic, and a huge migration in-land. The sad part: There's o such company in Oregon. It was a hoax. Whoever did that prank call should be shot. It's dispicable. The US is being a jerk. At first, we pledged 25 million dollars, a few days later, it went up to 35 million. Some drug company has matched that donation. What does that say about our government? We finally upped the donation to 350 million days later.

I agree with you. The guy who did the call is a censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif piece of censored.gif

It's really stupid, omg, [scsm]'350 million dollars to aid' [/scsm]. What has the cost of Iraq been now, 7 billion dollars or something? 350 million is honestly pathetic, there could be a lot more. Japan has already agreed to 500 million. I'm sure some rich person could donate a billion, he just loses some of his private planes.

They only found out a Tsunami was going to hit when the water dissapeared because the water was filling up the gaps from the plates. Then it hit.

If bill gates gave money to every thing that needed money then he would be poor. Although he still should happy.gif I donate $20 already to supposrt the victims. I feel proud biggrin.gif

It's funny how some people alone can easily donate more than the whole country did. And how we look at people like Bill Gates to see what they will do just like we look at other countries.. well not really, but yeah.

After reading more about it, this is much worse then i originally thought. Thats just awful sad.gif

The tsunami had around 100,000x the power of the Hiroshima bomb. Thats enough to throw the Earth off 1 degree.
Heres a link that describes the power of the Tsunami it relates the richter scale to a nuclear detonation.

I see you didn't read my full post... in that post I stated that bill and melissa (bill's wife) gates run a charity. About 50% of the money comes directly from microsoft, 40% come from bill and melissa gate's wallet, and the rest comes from anyone who wants to donate. Also, how can you say "He's just a rich bastard who cares about nothing but himself", unless you know him personally? (I am assume you don't know him personally.)

Well let's see ... 20 from 1 person, plus 20 from another person, that makes 40 ... hmm. Let's say 1% of the world all donates $20. That makes $1,600,000,000 if you estimate the worlds population at 8 billion (the current up to date estimate).

Wow, thats 400 million less than the UN donated. That's a lot of money!

We need another $325 million in weaponry in addition to the $8 billion we've already spent! Ummm. 150,000 foreigners dead? Let's give them... $350 million, but let's haggle for it.

Alot of money, but not enough money. There's like 200,000 dead people, millions and millions of people in need of shelter, food, and water, and even more that are about to die from disease.

Jesus Christ dude... Our soldiers in Iraq don't even get the armor on their trucks that they need and you want to send
MORE money to the countries that are probably going to make a profit off of all this? I think that these countries have enough money. Besides, even with all of the money they're getting do you think it's all going to get everyone's homes back that were destroyed? Probably not even close to all of them. I'd be more worried about our soldiers in Iraq, even though it's a war we shouldn't be in, than all of those people over there that are more use to this stuff. Yes, it's sad that people died, but let nature take it's course. We're all so worried about people dying from everything and saving their lives that our planet is going to be overpopulated and we're all going to die from these crazy diseases. War? What war? I didn't see a war, I saw a unjustifiable invasion, under the excuse that iraq had weapons of mass destruction. (Which, BTW, I think were located in George W. Bush's head.) Now, the USA is saying that iran posses weapons of mass destruction. Is this a coincidence? Or do you think this is another lame excuse to take over another country just like the one that was used to invade iraq?

I wasn't going to post on how I don't give a censored.gif about people over in india and you're all wasting your time and etc, etc... (and MA, I'm just speechless)
But since Kahoona started it (smile.gif)...

Wow... people are suffering half way across the world. I don't remember people from half way around the world sending ME money when I was suffering. Of course not. And correct me if I'm wrong, but did all those little pos countries send the USA money after 9/11? Why didn't they send in their aid workers and etc to help the victims and such and such?
OMG!!!! 11111 People without homes! Without food!
What about americans who are without homes and food? I don't see anyone crying about them.
While writing this post, someone was murdered. I don't see you caring about him/her and donating to their family.
I'm pretty sure the situation might be presently worse in Africa, even without a tusami... and their situation is constantly terrible... MA, why not donate to them as well? Don't forget about all the other massive amounts of third world countries in "trouble". Why play favorites? Donate to them all.
From the ninja pirates site... it's so true:
QUOTE
You're right, the media pumps out bull censored.gif  and we're supposed to read it and be terribly shook up about the whole thing because that's how they get their ratings up. Too bad stuff like that happens every three milliseconds. But if someone gets sad about those things, he's considered to be depressed and pessimistic. It's only appropriate to be sad about something if the media throws it in the spotlight.

People die... and... that's it. End of story.

And we really don't need to spend more money on this stupid war either when we have more personal matters to attend to at home. I wonder what exactly people are thinking in the government... but since we are already there and our troops forced to be there, sending the money to them instead would only be appropiate.
But whatever.

Mr.Kirbycode774: If 200k people died in went to hell instantly, it's no different than 200k people dying "naturally" and going to hell eventually. Perhaps, from a christian point of view, you might start to theorize if the end of the world is coming _soon_.

Why do I feel like this is going to turn into another debate like the one on "whats the point in life" in the serious topics forum? Besides, depending on how you look at it, 200k people are dying every day, and christians aren't getting panicked.

Also, I know this is off topic, but I think the spell check isn't working anymore.
