Except for the fact that im not that insanely far from Seattle (well, I could imagine it hitting near me if they fluffed with the guidance system), I'm not too worried. Ever heard of Nuclear Submarines? Hell, N. Korea could take out every single missile silo complex in the entire US and theyd still end up reduced to ashes.

Ok look at it this way, the United States armed forces don't have enough personell or money to go into another war, somebody on SEN has the U.S. national debt in their signature, its over 8 TRILLION dollars. If U.S. got nuked by the N.Korea they probably would nuke them back but without the nukes they would either need to make the draft AND find out some way to get a lot of money. I already can see the consequences of the war in Iraq, theres holes in the roads and they're cracked and theres no money to repair them coz all that money USA is spending on Iraq right now rebuilding their country also my district pool is all dirty and water isn't crystal pure like it was before. And there is a LOT of cracks in the tennis courts and no money to repair them.

ADDITION:
U.S. is just saving money on simple things like these but it's noticable.

If the united states is ever attacked that badly, they wouldn't look at money. They will start making everything for free or use different materials to make weapons.

Hmmm, the federal government repairs roads, swimming pools, and tennis courts? I learned something new today!

For all those people who think condoms shouldn't have been invented, it's the sad truth that casual sex (or whatever that is similar) would still happen. Not having condoms is not the same as getting rid of casual sex. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention all the STDs that get spread around with unprotected sex.

Yes yes, blah blah blah. I'll shut up now.

I'm glad condoms were invented. They stop the spreading of diseases. That's what they were commonly invented for. Not just so that it prevents people from having children.

Also, it lets us have pleasure with our loved one instead of having to worry about having a child.

I thought the Local Government was held responsible for that kind of duty. I don't think the Federal Governement would worry about every little crack in a sidewalk.

1/4? That's an alarming statistic! I'm thinking of all the girls in my high school graduation class, and it's hard to think that one in every four of them will be raped sometime over their lifetime. It is a very unsettling thought...

Rape and sexual harassment will be around as long as there are twisted and sexually frustrated people in the world... so it is a very hard thing to crack down on. Harsher punishment? Raising public awareness? Those might be good steps to take. I don't know if we could ever win this, but we've got to be able to do better than 1/4...

The matchups haven't been determined yet. You probably won't be against that team. tongue.gif

I'll post the final lineup in Freelancers on Monday. Keep an eye out for it.

1/4! Wow that's high! But I looked it up and that ratio has been changing. Some peolple believe taht the ratio will be 1/3 by the end of 2007. The problem is, what the **** do we do to stop this?

Studies now are saying that 1 in 4 girls are raped or sexualy assaulted!

These are some high numbers, what do you think should be done about this growing problem and in what way do you feel about this?

I think it is bad and that people should speak up after such an event occurs to get help and get the person doing it behind bars for life!

That was the ratio 10 years ago when I first heard it. I have a strong feeling that it was always this way, if not higher in the past. Bear in mind, women have only recently gotten "rights". Think of what it must have been like when they had none.

On a slightly unrelated note, I always get a chuckle whenever someone believes that things are getting worse these days. They've always been bad.

How about you post the standings here after every round Doodan so we can have practice matches against the team were playing.

You know what's worse? I was actually talking about this with my boyfriend and his father...89% of those assaults are by people who know the girl...it isn't usually random people on the streets. Think about it...how much do you think it has to do with restraint on the male's part vs. some random guy wanting some action?

people who get raped should seek help

That is so true, and a lot of it probably is in the poor urban areas that nobody gives a crap about (even if you say you do, you probably don't).

I won't comment on my own experience with it (pinch.gif), but I will say that I support the castration of rapists.

A man's libido is much more apparent then a woman's is. To men (in a general sense), sex is a game, and it is treated as such (it's cool for boys to screw 50 straight girls, but if a girl screws 50 straight guys, she's a walking STD).

Quite the opposite. If it's the whole world, then the numbers should be higher, because of all the unreported cases of it, and the fact that women in third world countries have crap for rights.... closedeyes.gif

Probably? If it's been proven, as you claim, then shouldn't that be a 'definitely'?

See thats thr 5th post that said "have pleasure with our loved one instead of having to worry about having a child". Condoms dont protect "100%" but reduces chances of such STD to happan. But then your taking advantage of such a thing and later either something bad will happan or go just wrong.

I bet the world statistic is closer to 3/4 than 1/4. pinch.gif

I stated it in another topic, but I'll repeat it here. If a rapist is caught once, that person should go through therapy. Repeated offenders should be castrated (or the female equivalent if they're not male).

Rape brings on an entire host of problems, from the apparent STI's and risk of pregnancy all the way to physical and immense psychological harm. It's worse than thievery, embezzlement, etc., and in my opinion, only murder is a worse offense.

On my last day of Sixth Form College on Thursday, our year group was taken into the school theatre and given a few post-exam pep talks. We were also addressed by a teacher who said that it was very important that we build up networks of social and business contacts now that we'd left college.

She mentioned that we were now automatically members of the Old Edwardians' Association (like a club for old members of the school), and that there were some powerful Old Edwardians who might be on the lookout for promising people graduating from our college, if we did something to catch their eye.

Also, we were given the choice of a kind of fast-track entry into one of London's most prestigious gentlemen's clubs - The East India Club. Basically, we were told about the importance of havng connections.

What are your thoughts on the issue of needing connections (or money) to get to the top? I think it seems a bit unfair, but I'll play by the system if it will help me.

It all depends on the benefits that come with it, I'd rather be at the bottom and be with, leave, health, all those benefits then at the top with only high pay (but assuming it's high enough you don't need benefits) so it really depends.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2006-07-02 at 20:05:41
If you work hard enough, you won't need connections, but they almost ALWAYS help.
