QUOTE
Capitalism is a fundamentally inhumane system. Corporations controlled by a tiny handful of the ultra-rich monopolise society’s wealth, technology and productive power. The land, natural resources, machinery and factories - the "means of production" - are owned by private individuals, the capitalists. And governments in the wealthy countries wage wars on their behalf to control sources of wealth like oil. While this minority enriches themselves off corporate profits and live the high life, the rest of society can survive only by working.

Excuse me, that's called Socialism. Europe has that. America is founded on Small Businesses. Europe really ticks me off, they try to be socialist by doing stupid things like banning Ipods in France, but they don't even have public bathrooms or water fountains.

QUOTE
They are predicting china to surpass us as a super power by 2020.

The newspapers didn't even lie that badly, they claimed 2045. If you actually read the articles on this subject, those dates are completely fabricated. They assume things that won't be true in a few years. The actual suggested date is closer to 2080 at the earliest. Even then, that's assuming that nothing important happens between then and now. China has horrible human rights problems to this day. The U.S. wouldn't even let a good country become more powerful than them. Unlike Britain's managed decline after WWII, the USA will never let anyone become more powerful than them, meaning a world-ending war if that's what it comes down to.

QUOTE
That's why I plan on moving to europe or something after college

People in the United States are constantly bickering about laws that restrict their rights. Seatbelts? Driving age? Drinking age? The fact that you can't pull a prank on anyone without serving jail time? It's funny to watch movies where people put flaming dog doo on peoples porches. If someone did that today in the USA the homeowners would try to have the kids arrested. Well, the reason I bring all that stuff up, is because Europe is MUCH, MUCH worse.

Why's that? How are they worse? Humor me happy.gif.

I heard somwhere that every so many years we produce weapons that are unthinkable. They are just so powerfull that one soldier can whipe out a single house on his own.

And about this new shield thing that protects a tank from a RPG missile. If you watch some movies at the website that I supply at the bottom of this post, you will see how powerull we really are.

No offence, but you are military-ignorant. The system, that you call "shields" (that's taken from PC games, just like some people call any RPG "bazooka", when Bazooka was an RPG in WW2.).

This system was created by Russians in the 80s. The first version was called "Thrush". It consists of 3 sub-systems:

1) radar detector system (I will not explain it to you fully)
2) computer that analyzes data (unneeded target exclusion, geometrical calculations, time delay calculations, controlls turret turning)
3) the destroyer system (it shoots at the incoming missile)

And the US didn't make anything conceptually new. Just like the Russians didn't in the past 20 years.

I must say that USA's military are quite conservative. They also denied the Active Armour method, that prooved to be effective, and is used by the US now (they finally started using it). And now, they just took his idea from other military forces (a 20-15 year old idea, I repeat), and make a fuss about it.

I will check out this site thanks.

Yeah, the old topic has been dead for over a week, so I suppose it's too late to dig up that corpse. I have never posted rules when starting a new What If? thread, but after the last one I think it'll be neccesary.

These are the Almighty Commandments of Wilhelm. Denying these Commandments will be punishable by death or Tom Arnold.

1. Always answer the post above you and then ask another What If?. This rule does not have to be followed if the post DIRECTLY above yours doesn't follow this rule.

2. Do not deny What If?s. Tiny Wilhelms will attack with pick axes in the night if you do.

3. Do not answer with "I don't know". If you don't know, wait for someone else to post.

4. Do not post What If?s that are insulting/flaming directed towards one member.

5. Please, please, please don't post What If?s that are inversions or repetitions of the previous What If?.

6. Never go canooing by yourself in the middle of the night.

I think if there's a draft, women should be able to be drafted too.

Also, the range of a three-stage Taepodong-2 missile is 4500 km (source). I accidentally read the first post as being 4500 miles. 4500 km is only about 2700 miles. In truth, it's really iffy if the Taepodong-2 can even reach Hawaii or Alaska, although it can reach some small U.S. territories in the Pacific. However, another possibility is that North Korea may just launch a satellite into orbit.

Not according to this.

But wait, you say, the founding fathers meant, even if they didn't say it, that America was primarily a Christian nation. Remember a certain fellow named John Adams? He approved the Treaty with Tripoli in 1796. One passage reads, "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

I think my view is clear enough, but what is your view on the subject?
