I took the time to carefully read everything that ihatett has written. His arguments are largely centered around his irritation that his replays are/could be screwed up. He repeatedly said last night that it was illegal to mess with the game's funcionality with the whole garbage about "purchasing the license to use Blizzard's software." If there was a threat in DK's work, it's good he found it instead of someone else who would be happy to keep it a secret and screw up everyone on B.net. If there was no threat, then the very large UMS fanbase would have a beautiful new tool to work with. He says it's not illegal to make a wide ramp, but according to his own definitions, those who do are abusing the software and their license to use it. In reality his only menstrual cramp is centered on the fact that because Blizzard feared more of a problem with this than with other glitches and exploits, they patched it, messing up each little girl's replays.

DK wasn't looking for another patch. He wasn't seeking to incorporate viruses into his maps. He wanted to expand the uses of staredit, and I for one applaud him for his efforts. Marie Curie and her husband died young because of all their experiments on radium. They discovered how to isolate it, and other people have suffered radiation burns due to exposure to pure radium. But their motives were for the benefit of mankind, and thakns to them, we have radiation therapy to reduce the number of cancer deaths. What if they'd listened to the ihatetts of the day? "Stop meddling with God's creations. You don't have a license to do whatever you want." They would never have found something so beneficial to mankind as a whole. DK was looking for something beneficial. I don't know if it really would have caused damage, but thank goodness he has the guts to try to seek to improve the wonderful world of Starcraft, despite the criticism of some ninnies. If your little replays got radiation burned, don't hate DK fir his work. He's only trying to improve things for those who like to PLAY Starcraft, not just watch themselves pull off a zealot blitz.

And ouch, someone called me a newb. I think I'll slit my wrists.

morph hack

Was that necessarily him? It's not like he made it or developed it himself. I found that hack on multiple sites, and none of them has anything to do with SEN. If he hadn't given us that replay so long ago, I think Blizzard would've discovered someone else using it first.

The morph hack was oringinally created a long time ago, I don't know exactly when or by who, but it was not deathknight. Deathknight was the person to first show it more or less publicly in a public game which then brought about a huge fury of anger and screaming. Other hacking groups then tried to capitolize on the exploit by adding a morph hack feature into their hack programs. Other people got it, blizzard then patched.

If you ahte Blizzard so much, you should just stop playing Starcraft if you are so tormented. Or even better, all of their games. It's their technology we happen to be using.

Amen to that. And ohh, wow, someone called you a newb. I'd prefer the pounding of straight vodka. But that's just me. Me and my newbsih ways, thinking I can be insulted by people I don't know or will ever encounter.

No, I'll complain to the guy finding exploits and releasing them to everyone instead of going directly to Blizzard or keeping them to himself.

Wow, what "interesting" logic. As if complaining to the guy who finds exploits fixes replays. Good job.

QUOTE
someone found a way to execute malicioius code by exploiting the buffer overflow, and went directly to Blizzard instead of releasing it to the public for them to exploit (deathknight, pay attention).

Now, what should Blizzard have done? Waited until someone else finds and starts exploiting it in games? No. They had no choice to patch it; leaving a buffer overflow unpathced is insanity.

Look, you are the DUMBEST person alive. BLIZZARD WOULD MAKE A PATCH ANYWAY, DUMB:poo:. Maybe it's just another thing that you CANNOT COMPREHEND. The "exploit" with triggers was a PLUS, releasing it to the community was a PLUS. It was NOT BAD. Buffer overflows are NOT even a concern. You don't even know what a buffer overflow is. Extended players = buffer overflow, extended colours = buffer overflow, extended units = buffer overflow. Did Blizzard patch the obvious? No.

And for the LAST god damn time.
REPLAYS DO NOT GET CORRUPTED AFTER A PATCH

I'm REALLY tired of reading posts from an ignorant newbie who's very narrow-minded and knows jack-:poo: about the game.

Thanks for the input. Seriously I mean it. I didn't know anything about that other hackers tried to do the same thing in their own hacks.

He's not the dumbest person alive. He simply has a different opinion. And the EUDs COULD have been bad, but fortunately they weren't. Good thing you did by telling us; bad thing for not telling Blizzard right away too.
And you're correct, not all replays get corrupted. Only some, if ANY because of this new patch.

If you are too ignorant to understand my point, I refer you to my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Pembrook. She could teach you about the English language.

Ah, heck...
Calling me a newb doesn't hurt my feelings, nor does it add to his lame argument. It makes him look even more ignorant. That's my point.

As for you, what's your point? Are you trying to tear down my argument by mocking my sarcastic remark? Why don't you put the rest of my huge comment in pretty little quotes and rebut that?

He is though, because Blizzard would have patched the game without notice anyway, so it wouldn't really matter.

Plus his "opinions" are wrong.

Perhaps you would be able to arrange such a meeting for the person you refer to. Indeed it would help by leaps and bounds.

I don't think he can. I think he might've gotten lost on the way.

What did he say? I don't see any text in his post. And I think flammers have something to do with flowers. I could be mistaken.

This is true. They can do whatever they want, as long as it is in their best interests to keep people playing. Hopefully. And not all of his opinions are wrong. Although some of them do have contradictions.

I don't see any text either. It sure doesn't mean much. I think he might be trying to reassert his previous comment about it being my choice, blah blah, and relate that to my argument, but it seems meaningless to me.

ADDITION:
This is such jolly-good fun, but I must go. I'll see how the argument progresses later.
BTW, see:

It might help people to see that research might not always be a bad thing.

Yeah, that's true. But if they can be disproven, they are in certain ways, wrong. But what's the point of disproving an opinon? Too much effort for so little yield. Is your ego that fragile that it can be crushed so instantly? Is a dictionary always at your hand so you may hurt yourself with words?

Optinions? What are those? And sometimes he does, I won't disagree with you. But some of your actions aren't always showcased in the best light. But you do have a point.

EDIT: Perhaps optinions are optional opinions; they can be used by wimps who wish to neither be right nor wrong. It's great for those who don't wish to live their own lives. A bunch of George Greys, they are.
