The text is similar to what Edai did.. it's just 3 layers, on each of which I used same font but different text size and later changed opacity. No blurring. Used a pixel font.
As for the effects, since people like it I can give them the PSD, though it might be hard to figure things out.
Basically, there's a lightly gradiented main background with a ton of stuff overlayed, screened and lightened above it. The main render you see is (I think) either lighten or screen, and the rest are distorted in some way copies of the render mainly overlayed. And the light, text, and border are obvious

I think that you should set that one as your current sig, they are boh good, but you and Dragons need to take your own paths. I like them the same, but I just like the affects in the other on more!

I would apply the same reply to this one also. Boring background, the render doesen't stand out, the text is hardly readable.

Syphon, I'd say 6/10. I just don't like it. First of all, it's too tall, which is the opposite of the Widescreen that In favor, so that probably wasn't fair but was incorporated into my mark. The colors were all good though for some reason seems like it's in greyscale, but the texture and all is boring, though unusual. Text isn't any good either.
