I wouldn't go that far in the comparison.  First of all, Iraq was/is not a colony.  Second, the US forces are trying to create a stable government and then pull out safely...something I think some US citizens don't think about.

Although, one could argue that the US's main involvement after no wmd's were found was oil...and they could be right.  And that could be viewed as a similarity, where the large country wants the smaller one under control for a natural resource.

Then again, we aren't taxing the Iraqi people.  Nor are we ruling over them.

Probably said, there are some similarities, but the intent behind the wars isn't the same.

Yes I know that we are carefully taking over Iraq and not harming innocent civilians and all but I dont understand why it is taking so long and we are losing so many men when we can easily take them over, not easily bur you know what I mean!

Well, to keep us similarity comparisons, we don't really want to take them over, and especially towards the end of the Revolution, Britain really wasn't expending the effort. Neither then nor now, neither country is extending full effort in the other. It'll take a bit to show the similarity, but here goes...

In the American Revolution, you see two very distinct things. First, only 1/3 of the population of colonists were truly for the rebellion. 1/3 were Loyalists, and 1/3 were neither way. So first of all, not even half the people were revolutionaries. Something to chew on when thinking about the next few points.

Okay, second(here's the interesting thing....), to be victorious, the continentals had to use unconventional tactics. Sounds a bit like Iraq too... but then you have to step back and look at why the tactics were needed.

For the revolution, the tactics used avoid lining men up in a field and then letting them 'have at it'(okay, so it was a bit more than that, but you get the point), and more keeping what few(remember they only had 1/3 support) alive. Now, today in Iraq, the most common thing you hear of is suicide bombers, no? Well, as a long term tactic, suicide bombers are a rather weak option, in my opinion. You loose a person who could have done much more. Okay, it does demoralize an enemy, but I still think I'd rather have the people holding a gun and still downing that many of the enemy.

If you compare the 'radicalness' of each war, hmmm, I would say that, although it was at the time, the tactic change in the Revolution could have been predicted. Just look at the Seven Years War/French-Indian War. You distinctly see colonial troops using tactics designed to protect the troops, fight the native American Indians, while British regulars were "line em up" style. Iraq's revolutionary counterparts do what they do, designed to be demoralizing and make us leave. If you think about demoralizing attacks though, a different war comes to my mind: Tet Offensive in Vietnam War....more a psychological attack than gaining area...

As for why it is taking so long, I don't really believe it is. You have to remember that you are in a religious hotbed that has existed for a very long time. The Iraqi government is a bit of an example of how important religion is to them, look at how their parties are divided. Trying to convince that many people to get along doesn't happen easily, as we can see. And some of those people seem to think that the way to go against it is attacking those who are trying to help. In my eyes, it boils down to the fact that the people of the middle east are so unable to compromise it makes the entire area inherently dangerous and ready to go up in wars.

American troops could pull out now even, or be shifted back to Afghanistan. But where would that leave Iraq? Since the US destroyed the existing government, they are obligated(and if I remember it is part of policy) to install a new government based on democratic ideals. After that's up and going smoothly, we can get out.

on a side note, I kinda like the comparison between the Revolution and this war. Most people will do what I did and call it another Vietnam...but it is rather interesting to look at it like this.

Sorry to ĂȘlip your topic but I was watching a story about a man who when he was just a baby though he was boy in a girls body. Thats what he thought for the rest of his life. His parents didnt mind him being Goy or a Birl so later at the age of 10 or later on he got a full sex change. But here is the scary story. When shre was 16 she went on dates and parties. Parents still ok with that. Shre even had SEX. They say in order for her to have sex the docter mentioned shre did it anally. How disgusting so the male guy cant find shis genitals. But one dark night some guys told shim to come to a party but not for long. When shre got in they humped sher and tossed sher agaisnt teh fl00r. Then one guy banged sher with a skillet then they say "take this ***ch". Now the next guy took sher into teh bathroom. He then took of sher pants then after grabbing his "ballz" he said "Its an effin man" after discovering this they spanked sher and beat sher up. Then they binded sher with rope and tossed sher body in teh truck. Drove to a creek and burried sher.

This is based on a true story it was tragic. The guys were never caught and police are still investigating.

Hey, whatever people want to do, as long as it doesn't hurt somebody else and it's not horrible, let them do it.

That vice versa part... does it have a source, exept your thoughts ? I've never head of a woman becoming a man. I only heard of men becoming wimen.

Marry or not ? I don't know what to say. It's not a 100% woman. Is she a woman in the deepest corners of her subconsciousness ?

There was a documentary on that. Women CAN look just like men. The woman they showed, looked more like a man than half the guys here.
