All North Korea really has though are nukes... Granted, deadly weapons, but that's not world-war kind of stuff, worst case scenario, they fire off a few, and get annihilated... I guess the casualties could be that of a world war, but that'd particular scenario would end rather quickly =/

2. it's part of the earths cycle, as it heats up the ice caps will melt cooling off the earth and raising the ocean level back to normal

That's funny. I had no idea the oceans were low to begin with.

You get the idea of what he was saying, though. i don't beleive in global warming, I believe in pollution and waste.

We don't need to make pollution, but energy companies are making such huge profits from preventing widespread installation of solar, wind, and water generators that they're not going to stop until legislation moves in. Which won't happen for awhile, because they fund our politician's campaigns.

The reason they don't want to use clean, economic power is ebcause, if you don't pay your "solar bill", they can't turn off the sun.

Kim: Oh this is the problem! Made in KoreA!

1. there's almost absolutely no proof of it, almost everything used as a claim to be because of it is natural cycles

2. it's part of the earths cycle, as it heats up the ice caps will melt cooling off the earth and raising the ocean level back to normal

3. The earth was once very hot, it was also once very cold, right now it's kind've in the middle so if it changes at all people complain

4. after the earth heats up it will start to cool off, and then global freezing will be the new issue untill it heats up again

5. Doesn't anyone realize that wildlife will adjust? the earth was once really cold, so we developed thicker skins, I assume we can adjust to the heat as well, along with the plants that will become more tropical and the fruit will change over years.

All of these arguments say one thing, you think it is perfectly natural.

We've gone through tons of cycles, and this is nothing different.

Excuse me while I scoff.

There is hardly anything normal about the increases of CO[sub]2[/sub] levels in the atmosphere. Humans are generating a highly unusual and unnatrual increase, will which kill us eventually if we don't take steps to stop it.

It sucks in St. Louis, too. We've had 95 for two days in a row. And it's always humid here, which isn't helping... sad.gif

Just wondering about the study.

I don't think any ammount of danger will stem our populace from using their effects.

There is a different between global warming and pollution, mind you.

I don't deny we're screwing up the environment, but I think man is overstating his power over nature. Consider this: the last "ice age" was doing the middle ages. The Ice caps reached their maximum coverage of recent times and began to recede again. I mean, the worst that can happen is we lose 3-4 miles of shoreline anyways.

If the ice caps melt they will cool down the oceans. If this happens there's a high chance that this newly found cold water will interupt the Gulf Stream and cause Western Europe to become more like Northern Canada. I don't think the people of Europe would like that one bit.

According to secular logic, it's enjoyable, so why not?

Sex is meant to procreate, not to enjoy one's self. The enjoyment is a side effect of sex to promote procreation, which helps the survival of the human race.

Not simply cool down, change the salinity of it. This is the big fear about the melting of the ice caps.

So nature vs nurture...

I believe that experiences will allow people gateways into what otherwise would be unventured paths, which change their outlook on life.

Another being is another being, even if they, by chance, share the exact same experiences and thoughts. Plants are living organisms and I'm sure a pair of them in this world have had the same experiences(but not thoughts cuz plants cant think).

Also, I believe that robots could be living too if they had a consciousness programmed into them. So, if you copy the program into another robot body, then you have two of the same consciousness.

The particular graph was from here: http://news.mongabay.com/2005/1124-climate.html

However, I have seen many similar graphs from various places, including the one used in An Inconvenient Truth.

Well "losing shoreline" is a tad more of a problem than you might think. If the seas rose 20 feet, as would result from one major ice sheet (Greenland or a part of Antarctica) melting, over 100 million people would be displaced because their homes would be flooded. Think of all the cities with millions of people on the coast. Beijing. Shanghai. Manhattan. Ports of India.

Care explaining what part of your post I missed? This increase in CO[sub]2[/sub] in the atmosphere is anything but natural.

Data against global warming.

That article is written by anything but what I would call a respectable or trustworthy organization. I'll take one moment to point out one false set of facts (I'm not going to research them all).

QUOTE
North America removes more carbon (about 2 billion tons) from the atmosphere than it emits (1.5 billion tons) each year. One reason is the tremendous regrowth in the eastern U.S. of forests that act as carbon sinks, removing CO2 from the atmosphere.

Every scientific commentary I have read either states that it is "extremely uncertain" whether such a carbon sink exists, or denies its existence outright. Furthermore, this policy grossly expands our supposed contribution, according the original Science article, they found we remove 1.7 billion tons annually, not 2.

For example, http://www.sustainabilityinstitute.org/dhm...796carbonsinked

Virtually no scientist disputes that global warming exists. A random sample of 937 articles on global waming in respected scientific journals were taken, and do you know how many acknowledged its existence? All of them.
