Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Why did Bush win?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2005-01-12 at 15:04:49
I was talking about the USA's obsession with national security. When issues with this crop up, the Republicans usually win. Basically, most Americans couldn't bear to have any threat against their nation, and the Republicans seem to be the most active when it comes to neutralising threats.

Of course, they are not necessarily the most active, but certainly the most noisy with their ham-fisted, General Blimp approach to diplomacy: i.e. War is the best option, and when you go to war, send in the troops with no long-term plan. It isn't very effective, but it sure gets publicity.

Of course, a lot of people simply think 'Wow, those Republicans are prepared to make a stand against our aggressors.' That's why they win on issues of national security.

Evidence of this can be seen in Kerry's ridiculous playing up of his role in Vietnam. Apparently being a soldier is a good trait for an American president, and of course, the more military inclined you appear, the more likely it is that people will think you'll be good at defending the nation.

Defence, it would seem, is high in the minds of many Americans.

Well my post is not about those pictures.

Anyway... security? What security?
Being in the military? That doesn't make anyone a good leader.

See, people will rely on completely unsecure computers nowadays. If a computer has an internet connection, then it is not 'private' anymore.

I read something about the ILOVEYOU bug, and I laughed. It was so hilarious, seeing how "big companies had to shut down their systems...".

Ah. Don't worry, the stupidity in this world will doom us all.

Notice how "big leaders" take 'advice' from their advisors? It's a little more than advice. Most "leaders" don't even make decisions for themselves. And when they do, it's usually wrong. Maybe someday we will see a real leader who actually does something.

What we need is a leader who does everything. I mean, Bush couldn't even make a decision without his advisors on 9/11, so he kept reading "My pet goat". We need a leader who does something other than worry about "major issues" and take vacations, and we need to know about it.

Hmm? I thought that national security was the big issue in the 2004 elections.

Terrorism...you know...

I was just trying to explain why Bush might have won. Republicans have an advantage when the main issue is national security, and I was trying to explain that too.

Bush just doesnt know how to be a real president. All he is interested in is war and acting like his dad. Nothing more, nothing less.

censored.gif bush , censored.gif kerry, they both are the crappiest political successes ever, success :\ wow they're gay dumbasses Al gore should've won in 2001 , we would've spared several thousands of innocent lives in war. We would've not wasted our money on gas due to the control over it.We also would've been better off, if President Bush, was never born.

Now YOU are a moron. It says in the constitution we are allowed to bare arms. So, if you own a gun you are a dumbass? however, if everyone decided to get rid of guns, I guess a future rebellion is out of the question.

I never said 'unemployment is not a big deal' in the context that its not important, what i meant was its not a big deal with President Bush. The economy was fine.. then 9/11.. then the economy was bad... President Bush's fault? No. keywords there:: "THEN 9/11"

Calm down!!

Question!! Who was the best president out of these three :::
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton
George W. Bush

Ronald reagon you may think he was a good president but he was a terible president! He caused the economy go up until he screwd the next president because he had to pay off all the stuff he spent!! bill clinton ended with a downfall in economy but it was better than when it started. Bush ended lower than he started in the economy!

>_< hmm bush or ronald reagon!!! tough decision!

wait... NO!!! BUSH!!! He's so stupid >_<

And so the Democrat/Republican debate rages on.

The parties should swap their symbols, I think.

A Donkey for the Republicans to represent their stubbornness and resistance to change, and an Elephant for the Democrats to illustrate their plodding slowness when it comes to success in politics.

Well in his defense (for once) no one really knows how to be a president unless they've been one in the past. There are no "President Schools" after all.

What democrat wasted his time making a manipulative movie? Oh, you mean Michael Moore? Yeah, he's not a democrat and even told Kerry he woud make another F 9/11-like documentary about him if he messed up as president.

And yeah, that's really manipulative![/sarcasm] All of the things he said are factual and on file at various resources. So unless the truth is manipulative, I believe you need yo get your facts straight.

And what four signs? I see 3 images there that probably took 5 minutes to make.

Heh, not necessarily. It's electoral college votes that count, not the popular vote.

Or maybe its because they'd break their neutrality proclamation...

Evidence? And oh of course he messed up our military and that's why we didn't kick any ass during his presidency![/sarcasm] Ever hear of Sarajevo? What would you classify that as, if not a show of power by Americans and NATO? Get your censored.gif straight before you make such outrageous claims.

Yes, OverRun that means you too. I didn't answered earlier 'cause you seemed to be far away from intelligible debate. (In every couple of words you must swear somethin'. Is that a pre-requisite to be an arrogant prick?) ermm.gif

Actually, Canada doesn't need an army. Because
A) They know the US doesn't care about people, just money for THEIR army.
B) No threats were directed to Canada.

NO country needs an army, NO country and NO person needs any type of weapon.

"Those who live by the sword, die by the sword." - A true fact actually.

Let's use Starcraft hackers for example. There are the hack makers, and the hack users. You know for a fact the hack users are dumbasses. And guess what OvErRuN, you are the weapon user, not the weapon maker.

Basan, bush is a dumbass because he's ruined our country, brining usa to war on false grounds and is trying to reinstate the draft, he's been in deep pockets with the saudi's important people and their oil reserves. Anyways I thought this war was started with Osama Bin Laden, where the hell did Saddam Hussein come from?

Bush won because of the way voting is set up, some states are worth more votes than others, mostly the southern states which are filled with bush-loving hicks.
