Well, here in Saint Louis we got hit by a big storm. And then it got hot again. So some people (fortunately not me) had no power, 90% relative humidity, and 100-degree weather. THAT, my friends, is heat ownage.

I heard today on my local news (I live in Los Angeles) that the wave should be dimishing over the next few days. Unfortunately, they said it will slowly die down. I assume that means a temperature decrease of like 2 or 3.

The beach today was terrible. Apparently it was 105 degrees. I need to invent a portable air conditioner.

the moon doesnt have an atmosphere, why would we bother trying to terraform it?

Anyways, all you people are talking like this is SC or something (i.e. resources). There will always be problems on earth, world peace is an unreachable dream that hippies come up with when theyre high. What we need to do is press for better technology (alternate energy is a big 1) until colonizing another planet becomes a practical endevour instead of a novelty.

Why would you want to terraform Venus? Lots of poisonous gases and heat = unhappy humans.

QUOTE(Ermac @ Jul 24 2006, 09:49 AM)
Hey did you guys saw those pics with israely kids happily writing messages to kids on bombs? Just saw them today, man that's just sick!

Who told you the messages were to "kids"? The bombs are aimed at terrorist positions, whatever I could make out from the writing had nothing to do with "kids", I did notice something along the lines of "Nasrallah" however...

Americans frequently "tag" their armaments... Its not that unusual...

That being said, I do find that pathetic as kids should be left out of these kinds of scenarios...

From that, here it is from the source, the context behind those photos:

http://ontheface.blogware.com/blog/_archiv...20/2142505.html

"Apparently one or some of the parents wrote messages in Hebrew and English on the tank shells to Nasrallah. "To Nasrallah with love," they wrote to the man whose name was for them a devilish image on television - the man who mockingly told Israelis, via speeches that were broadcast on Al Manar and Israeli television, that Hezbollah was preparing to launch even more missiles at them. That he was happy they were suffering.

The photograpers gathered around. Twelve of them. Do you know how many that is? It's a lot. And they were all simultaneously leaning in with their long camera lenses, clicking the shutter over and over. The parents handed the markers to the kids and they drew little Israeli flags on the shells. Photographers look for striking images, and what is more striking than pretty, innocent little girls contrasted with the ugliness of war? The camera shutters clicked away, and I guess those kids must have felt like stars, especially since the diversion came after they'd been alternately bored and terrified as they waited out the shelling in their bomb shelters.

Shelly [one of the photographers at the scene] emphasized several times that none of the parents or children had expressed any hatred toward the Lebanese people. No-one expressed any satisfaction at knowing that Lebanese were dying - just as Israelis are dying. Their messages were directed at Nasrallah. None of those people was detached or wise enough to think: "Hang on, tank shell equals death of human beings." They were thinking, tank shell equals stopping the missiles that land on my house. Tank shells will stop that man with the turban from threatening to kill us."

Examples? Education started from Christian Feudalism. Because Universities started from Theology, yes all the universities in western culture like Cambridge, Paris, and etc. started for the study of Theology.
Do you mean that non-religion believers are not sentient? =\

Of course religion founded schools; they wanted a way to spread their beliefs. As for technological advancements and scientific achievements, I can only think of wars. Yep, wars force a country to try to be better than another; competition brings out the best of us and we create many brilliant things. (Oddly enough, wars are often started by religion tongue.gif)

So, you say that humans controll how they live. If it is true, then what if a meteor from space hits Earth killing millions ? Did those people "controll" it to happen that way ?

The Dallas/Ft. Worth area finally got a break from around 12 days straight of 100+ degrees. It's been 94 ish nowadays.

No, the meteor did.

Is it really that hard to accept the concept of random? Not everything has a reason for happening. In fact, most things don't have a reason for happening, but people like to connect the dots when there's no real connection.

Pardon, to controll you must have a solid plan. Humans can't ahve it - they die like bugs, asteroids (and all other non-living objects) do not have the ability to think. You need something longer-existing (and able to think) to controll something.

People who belive in God and atheists talk on difefrent languages when talking about God.
