Echo- This is serious discussion, would you care to explain to us how destroying a small cluster of cells is muder, rather than simply reiterating the same opinion over and over?
Here, I'll start:
I don't think its murder at all, seeing as the thing being destroyed is little more than a cluster of cells, without even the slightest hint of sentience.

Yup and no, I tried to kill a fish but actually I was to shy to hit hard enough. Poor fish, some pro fisher needed to take care of it with one straight hit. sad.gif

Well, now I know I shouldn't even try to kill anything other than insects really.

Question:

Have you ever peed in a pool?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by StarKraft on 2006-07-27 at 13:53:31

Hey, you're right. It's murder! Murder of a cluster of cells "no larger than the period at the end of this sentence." And you know what? Those can help save lives of people like you and me. And do you know what they do with about 99.9% percent of those stem cells we already have? They get old, so we throw them out. Yes, we toss them down the chute and say "goodbye, ol' chaps!" I don't understand how you would think it's murder if women donated that stuff that gets "flushed" out of their systems naturally anyway. I mean, if they're not planning on having children, then they should be able to donated them. Anything else is wasteful.

You know what? Stopping stem cell research right now would be murder to many thousands, maybe millions, more people each year than we would gain by people adopting stem cells to have babies with (currently the only other thing that one can do with stem cells). Yes, I think people should still be able to get stem cells to have children (if the woman is say unfertile), but the clear and primary goal for stem cell banks is to supply stem cell laboratories, and in the future that will save more lives than you can imagine.

Oh wait, I forgot. Putting stem cells in humans to repair them isn't murder. It doesn't kill the stem cells (because they have to live obviously to heal their host), and it saves lives. Also, I think cloning has more to do with genetic research than stem cell research. Maybe you'd like to make a topic about that if you want to argue about how "unethical" genetic research (and as a possible product, cloning) is.

*Edit* I live in the United States, where any stem cell research is negligible at best. However, that article was from a German doctor's research. You know what would seriously tick me off? If other countries had advanced ways to heal cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, arthritis, diabetes, and many, many other diseases, and the United States didn't have those ways to heal us just because some (oh, excuse my français) Christian nutjobs declared that it was unethical (some because they're truly crazy, the others because they want to gain their conservative base again).

I understand you've been through some bad times, and you need spiritual guidance to help you cope with it. You don't really care about it being true or not, you just care about being happy. That's your primary goal. And that's understandable. There's nothing wrong with that. Unless you look at what it has lead to.

It's like, what some people have said earlier in this topic, when it gets organized. That's when religion becomes a problem. And there is very much truth to that.

You will one day grow up and realise that not everything has a meaning to it. No one is watching 100% of the time, and if you say someone is, then you're just self important. You seem to have a puritan mentality, in the sense that, it's not me that typed this post, it was the devil forcing me to type this post. Or better yet, god forcing me to type this post in order to test you. See if you're a real believer. Because the world revolves around you. I hope you're not that kinda person.

But I forgot to account one other thing, whole reason why this post is useless. You seek god for simple answers to big questions. I'm giving you complex answers to those big questions, and you don't really care about the complex ones. You care about the simple ones. So you might not even fully understand what other people have been explaining to you, cause I've read your posts, and I can safely assume you're pretty new to this whole god talk thing. And you've came off as rather naive so far.

So here is a simple answer for you:

Religion wears the mask of good the exact same way the devil would.

(To echo)
So when I scratch myself, I'm murdering my genitals? Wow, I guess I'm a serial killer on a daily basis.

You want to know what is more unethical? Letting people die so you can feel good about yourself.
