Humans have a programmed capacity for religion. It has existed throughout the ages, even when the voice of reason seems to trump it. I think this is partially out of laziness, for if we can just attribute everything we don't understand to some supreme deity, we never have to figure things out for ourselves. Whatever.
Anyway, "Armageddon" has somewhat of a religious connotation. If we use the word in one of its original definitions, the battle between Satan and the corrupt, and God and the faithful, then it is an event of which we would in all likelihood receive no warning.
Personally, if this Armageddon sceneario takes place, being a man, I prefer the muslim views of paradisal life after death. After all, who could refuse an eternal existance with seven virgins? It's definitely better than having sex with your girlfriend a few hourse before you're all ashes. And hey...with any luck, she may be among your seven.
