not so much as a website but i would love it if blizzard would make a filter that you can add words to then it automatically filters if people say it. im fed up of all the racism. you don't see it as much on sen which im happy about i think the mod's do a good job at sniffing trouble and solving it. however there is a few rules i do not agree with and anybody that is on my friends list on SC will know which rules as well as moose most likely. but yeah if its private then its their rules however their rules generally take into consideration natural human rights and try to filter it out.

I'm sure you have the right to say anything you want unless:
1) Racism - Saying naugthy things about minorities.
2) Language - %&$* you.
3) Threats... (I guess?) - "I'll rape you."
4) Subject Content - Stuff people may find offensive from religion to gender, etc.
Yah... that pretty much covers my opinion.

QUOTE(7-7 @ Aug 4 2006, 11:26 PM)
Thats sounds like that would be but time is frozen their so everything you look at is virtually still so yes you would still see the person, you make a good point though, this is why people dont know that much about black holes and they open up such more to the unvierse and space!

Do you not understand, what he told ? Or do you not understand what is to "see" means ? To see = your eyes recieving reflected light from objects, and your brain processing it. How can light reflect if all photons that get near the black hole get sucked itno it ?

Space time is frozen inside a black hole, Why would I make this up? about being able to see someone in there dead, even know they are long gone and not even there. Space time freezes so you see it even though its not there.

QUOTE
Objects in a gravitational field experience a slowing down of time, called time dilation. This phenomenon has been verified experimentally in the Scout rocket experiment of 1976,[10] and is, for example, taken into account in the Global Positioning System (GPS). Near the event horizon, the time dilation increases rapidly. To the distant observer, a falling object's movement slows down, approaches but never reaches the event horizon. Any escaping photons do not slow down when escaping the gravity well but experience redshifting. From the falling object's frame of reference, it will cross the event horizon and reach the singularity at the center of the black hole within a finite amount of time.

Lucifer was an angel that felt that angels were superior to humans, and God didn't like this.

Actually Lucifer rebelled against God because he didn't like something God did. Before you know it God destroys the entire population of Earth again so we never get a chance to hear what he was doing that pissed Lucifer off.

A mod or sum1 needs to split this topic in half. 1 for philosophical debate and the other for science.

The whole purpose of this topic is to debate deism vs athiesm.

QUOTE
An overwhelming majority of the scientific community views intelligent design as pseudoscience or junk science. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has stated that intelligent design "and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life" are not science because they cannot be tested by experiment, do not generate any predictions, and propose no new hypotheses of their own.

This is true. Intelligent Design is, by definition, not science. Where science ends, religion begins. When I was very young I asked a respected adult if all scientists didn't believe in God. They said that many scientists believed in a God. It is because science at this point in time does not have all the answers. It may never have all the answers. God is a convenient explanation for everything that we don't have an answer to. In the past, God explained the motion of the planets, the shape of the Earth, the origin of life. We now have better answers to those questions because of Science, but this does not preclude the possibility that scientists will still be Deists because Science still does not have an answer for everything.

QUOTE
Hell, i found out all I needed to know about the BB at a Hubble site. you know, where accepted science and knowledge is, no mention of god making it all, wonder why, i mean it would be so much easier...they must be dummies.

The Big Bang theory is based on the observed Hubble's law redshift of distant galaxies that when taken together with the cosmological principle indicate that space is expanding according to the Friedmann-LemaƮtre model of general relativity. Extrapolated into the past, these observations show that the universe has expanded from a state in which all the matter and energy in the universe was at an immense temperature and density. Physicists do not widely agree on what happened before this, although general relativity predicts a gravitational singularity (for reporting on some of the more notable speculation on this issue, see cosmogony). -- Taken from wikipedia.org

The Big Bang does not necessary preclude the possibility of a divine creator. If we are to believe our senses than at some point in the very distant past the entire Universe was a gravitational singularity. Perhaps God created this, perhaps it appeared from nothing. Vacuum Energy does appear to be a topic of hot study these days, perhaps there we will find the answer as to "where exactly did anything come from?"

Let's look at some patterns.

People without a convential belief in God:

I understand you've been through some bad times, and you need spiritual guidance to help you cope with it.

QUOTE
First off, I looked at the poll results before I posted and can honestly say that I was suprised to see that it was split almost 50-50 between the two choices.

QUOTE

QUOTE
Until there is any physical proof that God exist, which there won't be, I'm not going to believe in him/her. I don't like all of that faith mumbo jumbo.

People who do believe in God:

QUOTE(7-7 @ Aug 4 2006, 03:25 AM)
IM just wondering who believes the Big Bang Theory?  Does this really go with GOD or Evolution, When I think of the Big Bang Theory I think that it is linked with Evolution and started everything.  Like those two molecules (atoms) coming together to make the big bang, where did those molecules come from?  Was there a before big bang that started molecules of cells?

Evolution and the Big Bang Theory are not related in anyway. It is entirely possible to have one and not the other, or both. Thus, your question is irrelevant as evolution assumes life to have already existed. Basically, abiogenesis is not evolution.

QUOTE
First of all,the Big Bang Theory has some parts that has a connection to God if i'm correct...

The Big Bang Theory has no connection to god. Unlike some things, there are actually evidence of the event.

If that is true, why don't we see the objects that fell into Black Holes ?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-08-05 at 03:12:13
We arent 100% certain that black holes exist in space. They are so far away, we dont see the matter that goes in, eventually the black hole collapses in on itself. Everything disappears, this would be easier to explain with the dimensions thing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2006-08-05 at 03:16:48
Wait. When did things go "in" a black hole? I thought it was just a big piece of mass so massive that light cannot escape it, thus making it look like a black hole. Jammed, we haven't seen things go in a black hole because we don't have cameras that can shoot that far. But, we have seen stars disappear too fast.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-08-05 at 03:25:43
CheeZe is right, let me make it more clearer by stars disappearing though. Scientists looking for black holes are looking for a circular movement that is very tight around some type of object. Like a star (sun) on a very small orbit, slowly losing mass, but much faster than a weak dieing star would lose its mass.

And thanks for deleting some threads?

this is totally parthetic... weve lost most the good threads... the means to start a war with a webpage that is easy to hack but why is it other people prob but the consiquences can be bad soo it prob the best thing to insure that hackers do not interfere with this webpage.
Sen has been on for a long time from what i hear and its sens decission soo wtf is this all about?

I don't seem to understand who or what SEN offended. Maybe since I'm rather new I missed some conflict that happened earlier? And I sincerely hope we avoid any sort of war, as this could seriously affect the mapping community as a whole. We should try and tread lightly for a bit, and see just what went wrong, as diplomacy is probably the best solution.

Black holes aren't detected through "movement" or anything visible. You cannot see a blackhole even if you were very close to it. You could probably see a swirly gas around it but you cant see the black hole itself. Black Holes are detected through radiation anomalies. You couldn't possibly detect a black hole just by putting hubble out there.

BLACK HOLEs aren't HOLES in a sense. You cant go through it. Being "Sucked through" are just a plain misconception through sci-fic. A black hole is the core of collapsed massive star. Black holes are probably SO small that you couldn't even see it with your own eyes. But it has immense enough density and mass to even suck in the light. Simply explained, black holes are a form of singularity, where as high mass are compressed into size near to a single atom. BLACK HOLES are already proved, defined, and understood through out studied beings. As such, "HOLES" are a misconception. As cheese stated, its a big piece of mass. But as you can see, black holes aren't big in volume.

And 7-7. Stars dont ever lose mass unless they are somehow split apart and blown up into bits. Dying stars gain mass because of their currently massive fusion. If stars are in Black hole's radius of gravity, it would instantly be "sucked in' as you guys say.

Black Holes eventually disappear if it does not consume mass for a certain or somewhat period of time.

Theres no proved FACT about this. We've never cloned a sentient life form.
