uh, lets say you make a drone pick up a SCV. Now, lets say you have this trigger:

null
Trigger
Conditions:
¤ current player brings at least 1 scv to location "x"
Actions:
¤ end senario in victory for current player

So, when the probe that is carrying the SCV brings the SCV to location "x", would the trigger above fire?

You deserve the Nobel prize. Anyone else feel a marionette map coming on?

Just when I think we've discovered everything something pops up again. It's really weird.

Hope blizzard doesn't put a patch over this cool find.

I have a dark feeling they arn't ignoring us. I dunno if they'd go as far as to patch something like this, but I get the feeling we're doing a lot of their bug testing for them, and it's gonna come back to bite us.

I pray I'm wrong.

It depends what unit the drone is actually picking up. If you have the hydra as the overlay, but it moves as if it was a civilian, I'm 99% sure that'd the trigger would recognize a hyrda, but not a civilian.

Has anyone tried this out on Mac computers? Does it just crash, or do nothing, or some completely different effect?

I can't open the map on my mac comp, just crashes strait off. disgust.gif
Props on the find anyway!

Yup I just did and it sure does crash it. I wasn't able to view the replay also...
...does anyone know what causes the macs to crash when there are player 9+ units placed, this bug, etc? I am really getting tired of not being able to play some of these cool maps.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SA_Max71 on 2005-02-10 at 16:24:03
ask nuclearrabbit ... he has a mac and it would seem that he is the guy to ask when it comes to glitches on MACs...

also, if you get virtual PC, you should be able to run these cool maps. BUt, I have only heard about it, so I don't know.

Fact: Players 1-12 all work for both PC and Macs.

Fact: Nothing in that map should cause macs to crash! :?

I have no clue why it's crashing at start. If you catch me on Battle.net, just yell at me and say you need to do mac testing.

Actually, just place an 'xtra' powerup in a map, get a high templar, a few probes, and do the trick to see.

If triggers work for regular powerups, like you can detect if an scv brought a powerup to a location, then it should work like this: You pick up an ultralisk, it turns into protoss rubble. The trigger would detect the ultralisk. Or you pick up a unit, it turns into a civilian, triggers will detect the unit you picked up, not the civilian. Overlays are images, not units. It may have the movement and attack of a unit, but it is not a unit.

WOW!! biggrin.gif I just tryed it out and after crashing a couple of time I found out how and It's really cool!!! Especially when the units that are holded can atack! To bad we can't do that in melees.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-02-11 at 15:48:57
I think it could be possible with a hack, but I HOPE I'm wrong.

No hack discussion will take place.

I think deathknight said when we were doing this that it was possible in melee, you can use p12 for powerups smile.gif.

It won't ever occur probably.

That means if your p2, and did the trick, and p1 just made a carrier, his carrier will be moved to your base, and if he doesnt move it you can pick it up smile.gif

this happend once to me in a melee game... I had no idea why it happend!... thankfully, the carrier that was teleported was owned by an ally

Awesome find. Techincally you CAN do this on a melee. Place the power ups as player 12 units and they'll stay on the map. This is probably the best glitch ever for SC. It's so awesome! Dang, someone already said that you can do it in melee. Oh well =/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-02-13 at 10:00:16
It won't be very usefull in Melle simply because you won't waist time on hallucinating powerups and then making untis to make funky effects.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2005-02-13 at 12:43:21
Not JUST funky effects, you could have probes pick them up and start marching to the enemy base. The probes will do up to 20 damage and even when they're destroyed, will drop whatever unit they're carrying, which could be a big surprise. Then when the enemy is attacking the unit dropped, the probes will be dealing their 20 damage on the enemy base while dodging attacks.

If I can avoid crashing while at it.

If you could somehow cloak the probe or the unit it is holding and reuse it, then it would be the ultimate weapons system. More screenies please!!

Other Fact: I always crash on all the really funky stuff... and I have no clue why.

I'm always willing do do some testing.

EDIT: Did some testing, crashed a few times, then it worked... ...no crash when the map is started! Really odd stuff. Ill continue testing a bit.
