Staredit Network -> Portal News -> Banned from the DLDB
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)FaRTy1billion on 2005-06-02 at 15:09:34
Lots of times (not jsut at SEN) people put their name as "Author" because they are probably looking for "Submitter" (isn't submitter automatic?) and they could be the same thing. There should be some thing that explains what each field means and not just like "Author of the file:" or whatever is there.

Maybe put a short explenation if there is none

(lol, I submit files yet I have no clue how the submitter thingy is set up)

Automatic. Duh? You submit it, you are the submitter closedeyes.gif

We should really discuss something in the Staff forum about this.

If a newb got some wav files he found on the internet and put them together in a single file, he may feel justified to put his name under Authors.

I didn't submit anything to the DLDB
YET>

How come it says AUTHOR is metallica, but submitter is Slayer. (link above)
so, I guess that isn't stealing.

BeeR changed it. He originally put "Slayer"

EDIT-
There was another page!?! sorry for replying to an old post. tongue.gif

Dude, why not make it

I fully understand the meaning of author but I just might have mistaken it and added my name in both slots. Just like I said to everyone at SEN I am really sorry for the "Stealing"

So Yoshi or BeeR my banning sentence then is a week of suspension from the DLDB

Nah, I just got rid of the sentence accidents do happen; many people mistake author for submitter since submitter is automatic.

I'm the one who should apologize. We don't have any rules or policies for wav files, I dont blame you for not knowing.

You needn't apologize Yoshi... You didn't do anything.

No Yoshi I don't think that you need to bother with apoligizing to me because it was my mistake in putting my name where the "Author" was. sad.gif But thanks anyways Yoshi. smile.gif

Yes I think that you could still PM Toa5555 about that, but it's just that Toa won't be able to put up anymore files. Just one question is Toa, and the other people banned forever?

Usually I dont submit much to the DLDB now.

With the screenshots no longer available, I (and many people) would find it rather boring to browse through the DLDB.

Yes I know Dev and I am ver, very thankful for all of you who did stand up for me. biggrin.gif And I really appreciate your support including my best friend hynk, and mr.bob, DT_Battlekruser, warhammer40000, and Yoshi for his apology, but was no need for it because he did nothing wrong. smile.gif Well the good thing is that the ban was lifted and no need to worry anymore. smile.gif

BeerKeg: I know this is a little bit late, But why did you feel the urge to announce the peoples names? That’s really inappropriate and unprofessional.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-06-05 at 11:02:37
It wasn't an urge really. I actually thought a lot about mentioning their names.
The real reason was that people think that since they are regular(not the member group) members of SEN that the punishment will be less severe and we will give them a chance.
Now they see that 2 regular members were banned. Makes it clear that anyone can be banned for breaking rules.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-06-05 at 11:05:54
Though people who have been at SEN longer should be given more respect than those who haven't. It is much, much more likely that it was an accident rather than an actual attempt at theft.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-06-05 at 11:11:23
Thats why I changed it a one week suspension.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Penpen_lord on 2005-06-05 at 21:07:52
yah, I agree with Hynk. I dont know him personally, and I don't have much credit on SEN but even I was confused on Author. I think they just thought it meant who recorded or ripped the music, not the orchrastra that performed it. I think you may need to reconsider the week penalty... even though when I post this its probably over biggrin.gif And apologies to them maybe? Make it known on SEN what you mean by AUTHOR.

Even Moderators can be banned?

Depends on the moderator.

For some reason, it seems like these "higher classed" people on SEN (mods, well-known people, etc) seem to get away with their bad deeds more than just the normal people here on SEN disgust.gif
