Noname's maps were pretty damn amazing if you ask me, i would have put at least 2 of them in there smile.gif

I wanted to enter Final Frontier, but oh well. It probably wouldnt have won anyways.

it was only 1 2 player map. So trccs and nonames maps had slimmer chances.

In the End, there were like 20 maps that could have made the mappack and I would have been happy. It happened to be these 6, it's pretty obvious that you need some luck for your map to make it. There was no other solid semi-island map, so my map mars attacks did not have much competition. trcc on the other hand had 3 really nice 1on1 maps, not one made it in the end. That's life.

@ihatett: lol. We are not 13 years old any more ok? Why should we vote maps in that did not deserve it?

ADDITION:
zerg can 3 hatch expo. On some LT positions it's the same, or on gaema(gaema is imbalanced though), or on plains to hill etc.

the 3 hatch expo is quite easy to defend due to the long distance, so it's clearly better than gaema. Most zerg probably would not chose this map as homemap, but clever protoss would never chose LT as homemap, 100% balanced is almost impossible and if all maps were, it would be boring.

ADDITION:
looking at the map again, on the top positions it will be not that easy to have enough sunkens everywhere.

Here the maps that made it to round 2. 27 Maps all together. I don't have the link to the complete 63 mappack, but most of them could not be considered anyway. So you can see how many good maps were i it yourself.

Zerg can't 3 hatch because the choke is way to wide to cover with sunks in time.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Panschk on 2005-06-10 at 12:04:59
It's not a time critical thing imho. You have enough time to build a nice sunken line before m&m in big enough numbers are there. But it is right that it's wide, so you may need more sunkens than on other maps->worse economie.

I played on Cryptic Island with zerg alot and I didn't seem to have a problem with the expos...

It's basically the same as some maps like Dahlia.

well, i don't see how zerg can expo is all

About FE on Cryptic Island: Its impossiple to FE - you need to hat before expo, which is ok - you have to that on Kingdom of Zerus as well. The choke if friggin' wide. A little to wide if you ask me, but taste varies.

SUNKEN LINE ON BOTTOM POSITIONS: This isnt a problem at all - choke is much smaller at bottom, than at top.

SUNKEN LINE ON TOP POSITIONS: Ok you have 2 choices
1) You hat above your ramp (3-4 sunkens needed)
2) You hat below your ramp, trying to cover a very large choke. (6+ sunkens needed, and its not even sure you are safe then)

Zerg just have to pray they get bottom positions, and I dont think luck should be a factor in SC.

Still its a nice map though, if Z makes it past the first 7 minutes. On a MU like TvP this map is gonna have some fun games. Still I'm a little worried about 3 expos on main island - I think it will call for alot of turtling.

BTW, is there any oppertunity to observe the games being played?

Oh and MA, 1v1 on Cryptic Island, River of Gods og Kingdom of Zerus?

I have to admin, it did not really think of zerg fe when I remade the choke. I was concerned about terran wallin then. If I had more time I probably would have paid more attention to tighten the choke up on top positions. Well, we'll have to live with the way it is right now T_T

I made Four possible changes, two of which possibly completely changes the whole concept of this map. But could any of these replace the "officialized" one?

Ver1:
[attachmentid=10283]

Ver2:
[attachmentid=10284]

Ver3:
[attachmentid=10286]

Ver4:

Or should we just say, censored.gif this

No, the mappack is finished now, players don't want to learn nor download a new, changed version of the map every week. It's too late. Your changes are no good anyway sad.gif

There were many different oppinions. Just like on SEN, there are people who love it, and people who hate it. The season will start 2 days from now, we will know more then;)

First day of league was today. [FP] was only clan with 2 teams^_^; Well both teams lost, our opponent was very BM, but whatever. I only played the 2on2 with my ally who is zerg, and if it wasn't for his disconnects, we would have won I believe. We played Kingdom of Zerus (disconnect), Mars Attacks (easy win^^) and white lies (disconnect again, but we would have lost regardless). The replays weren't anything special, so there is no need to post them here.

i just saw, you can get replays of the ESGL-matches!

www.esgl.net->starcraft/broodwar -> Starcraft Broodwar Clanliga Season I ->Roster -> "details" for every match. Some clans already have posted replays.
