strongly disagree

The text of the constiution is that the government shall make no law. Last time I looked the pledge wasn't a law.

The federal government has no right to make any law regarding religion. Its the first amendment. It simply says "Congress shall make no laws respecting the establishment of religion . . .

Its the state government that has the power to choose whether or not a religion be forced on the people.  Not that they actually have that power any more.

Besides, I am not offended when i hear the word Allah, and I'm Catholic. You shouldn't be offended by the word God, no matter what religion you are in.

State governments and laws are subject to the Constitution too, you know.

QUOTE(Constituion)
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

Congress can't push religion of any form into your life or forcefully remove it.

The truth is, I think "In God We Trust" has a right to stay on the money, but "under God" in the pledge has got to go. It was only added during the Cold War as a way of saying "We are special because we have God and you don't!"

So you don't want to be special anymore?

I would guess because over 70% of the people in this nation that say the pledge will continue to say "under God" even if it's taken out.
And with all those 10983402938420384723083842983432 dollar bills out there, are people really going to make an effort to take it out, when noone really would actually waste valuable seconds of their life lookin at the back of the dollar bills reading the line.

Yeah right.

A good 90% of the kids going to school would be taught the pledge without "under God" and say it that way because that's how they were taught. Few actually care.

And my question-reply to you is: Why not?
In my country we're also removing the crucifixes that used to have in many classrooms (above the chalkboard) in order to fulfil a truer separation between religion an state. A thing that we have for quite a while now. happy.gif
And even though the majority of the population here is Catholic (practicants or not that's not the point here), it supports the removals.

Just liked to clear that for ppl to "feel special", they don't need those kind of sentences. tongue.gif

Since DT BK already answered to the 1st part, I'll only reply to the 2nd.
With the constant security measures being imbued to the notes to prevent it's forgery, I'd say that's it's easy to do that sentence change amidst one of those phased, ol' money (as in, more easily forged) recalls that are generally done to replace for the new and improved measures they cooked up for the notes in hte mid-time. wink.gif
