It makes it too easy to make good looking pieces.
True to that but everyone is given the option of using spirtes so I do not believe there will be anything rigged or so on. And we are talking points off for massing spirtes. So dont see a reason not to enter just becuase spirtes are allowed
Mass sprites are not the problem. Mass sprites is just dumb. Single sprites to cover complete messups is the problem. It is a sign of pure newbage.
But using sprites to enhance the theme, perhaps? Have you never considred this? Using sprites to add in, maybe, a statue or doodad where it would normally be impossible, is newb? Huh? Using cloaked burning buildings for fires? All these things are newb because they're impossible to do with terrain? Hmm?
Wilhelm, I doubt anyone would ruin a perfect custom blend with a sprite just to "Enhance the theme" because having themese is restrictive enough.
So much flamming on my posts. Post your own ideas. Stop harrassing.
what if u wanted to make a forest? u need sprites
and if u dont want the harrassments, dont say things that cause them
Entered!! gl for me
ADDITION:
what do we do when were done with the terrain? just wonder because im done
It is my own idea that sprites are not strictly for doodad tops, that they CAN be used to actually put a theme into a piece. I'm not saying "cover up mistakes with sprites", but I'm not saying "don't ever use sprites at all". Wooden, flaming is attacking the person. This is what is called an argument, but you seem to have trouble acknowledging that people other then you have thoughts of their own. I'm afraid that I disagree with you, and that I am not particularly wrong nor right in this, it's my opinion.
As for a perfect blends, if it blends in perfectly, but it doesn't accomplish anything other then matching colors in tiles, what use is it? Simple: None. At that point it is simply an obstruction. That is why I believe that Crescent Dyne is not going to be good, it has no soul.
They can be used to make a scene have coverage, so that there is not simply everything veiwable. Granted this can be used to simply cover up mistakes in blending, but it can also enhance the feel of the scene. The entire swamp competition would have failed miserably without sprites, they gave the terrain the feel of being swampy, taken away, the terrains would have looked like a forest, which is not what we were going for.
i'd enter if some1 told me how to SS..like i no how to but after i do it i press the "window" button in between the Ctrl and the Alt buttons go to paint and to Ctrl +V and it comes out all screwed up..
