i must say it really does look alot better then the last one, good job, but you still have a long way to go if your going to do all the things you said you were,
and i hope you do finish this map because the way you described how it will play sounds very fun

you must have a location for every cannon and use the same trigger but you will have to copy it and change the name of the location it uses

like this

cond- always

action- set doodad state for cannon at loction cannon1 to enabled

Man, that would be a lot of locations. I doubt I'll have enough room! ranting.gif
Gawd, now I'm po-ed! What also sucks is that the city is a bit large, but there is no way in HELL I'm going back to change it. I'll also fix the bridges up, and make it awesome. Hell, the next screenshot will be the completed Tar Valon! Well, I told myself to go to bed at 2:55, and now it's 3:35. Cya all 'round!

Oh my... MUCH MUCH better!!!
The squared-ruins-tiles aren't really very pretty though.
I'd advise that you start the thing off with X-tra Editor Base Mode, THEN Special Mode, and LASTLY use SF for the super-uberly-special things that require the master tile-pallet.

Here is an almost complete Tar-Valon! Enjoy.

Pssst... how's it look'n? Here is a rundown of the buildings. Many of them do special things, so here y'go:

Command Center: Town Square (Build Workers of course!)
Barracks: Recruitment -OR- Conscription Center
Academy: Run 'o the Mill House
Refinery: Granary -OR- Supply Storehouse
Cannons, Bunkers, Missile Turrets: Hmmm, what could they be used for? huh.gif
Factory: Siege Factory
Star Port: Docks
Psi Disrupter: White Tower of Tar-Valon
Engineering Bay: Weapons Armory

More Refineries = Larger Army Cap

-Once again, cities and villages generate income.
-Villages generate supplies.

I want your opinions!

I was playing around. If i was going to use it I would spend more time and make it better.

Open in SF to see buildings. A few are stacked.

Thats some 1337 stuff bolt. You're my hero wink.gif

Hmm, I think it should be slightly bigger there bolt, its near impossible to go anywhere from the top.

So, um, what about my city eh? confused.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by FamDav on 2004-05-30 at 18:47:22
Another way to do the the enabling of the cannons with one location is after the cannon is enabled, give the cannon at that location to another player. Also add in a move location over a photon cannon for the first player so it will then move to a new photon cannon and repeat the process. Of course, you'll need a preserve action as well.

It would look something like this:

conditions-
always

actions-

move location "Schfifty-five!" to all photon cannon owned by player w0n
set doodad state of all photon cannon for player w0n at "schfifty-five!" to enabled
give all photon cannon at "schfifty-five!" owned by player w0n to player d00
preserve trigger

A modification of this trigger could be used in a pylonless cannon defense.

OF course, a drawback of this would be that if you had many, many cannons, it would take some time before completing all of them, ecspecially without hyper triggers.

I think your new city design looks great, Felagund. A vast improvement. Stick with it!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2004-05-30 at 19:03:57
ETA on completion of terrain and unit placement is 1 week. After that we'll test to see how "neat" it is eh? I'm not going to think of triggers until terrain is complete!

Yeah i know. Im still disapointed in many parts of it. If it was for my own map i would not call it quits there. And yeah i realized after i started that Felagund's is quite a bit larger. Of course i think it would be easyer to make it look cooler on a larger scale. I just thought the dock edges might look cool.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2004-05-30 at 20:09:18
Well, you have do have a point there. With the stupid space limitations I have (my map keeps on growing smaller every minute cry.gif ) I'm conserving what is possible. I'm also changing a few things around.

Now, true to Civ, you can build villages. I'll say up to a maximum of 10 to 12. These increase your supply production. I haven't even picked out the unit yet, but I'm thinking about a comsat station (you add on to the town center to create a village!). Of course I'll disable the scanner. Oh yeah, there is that "trading" thing. There are two sides to it. Player to player and automatic. The player to player is obvious, as one player donates money or supplies to another. The automatic is for the docks. I might also include stables for trading. The automatic trading is simply a money/supply spawn that happens every time you tax your population. Another very limited source of income will be the inn.

Okay, in this post I want to talk about the options!

Here is a list of the menus. Any questions, you know how to post!
(The heirarchy of my menus goes as such: e.g. A1 is the main menu. From here you can access 1a (Domestic Menu), 1b (Trading Menu), etc. etc.)

A1: Main Menu --Seperate Altogether--
1a: Domestic Menu 1. The Seven Alliance Menus
1b: Trading Menu
1c: Military Menu
1d: General Menu

From there you can access the various options such as higher taxation of your underlings, construction of machines of war, and a HELL of a lot more! : )
And you'd have to be a complete dumbass not to understand how it works!

Well, well, I've put my 2 or so hours in this day. So now, a last gift, here is a picture of the mighty fotress Tear!

I wish you would recognize that they are two different places! First was Tar-Valon, this is Tear!

Meh, the first five or so were tests, to figure out what looked good (we ruled out the crap!). Six and seven were Tar-Valon, and Eight was Tear. You wouldn't really understand until you a)play game -OR- b)read books! Okay, so don't even try to understand the storyline yet!

If i couldn't sum up my story line in a few paragraphs I wouldn't do it. But I know alot of people are differant.

You asked for this! Here we go, the shortened tale of the Wheel of Time.
*Warning, this is only Book One of Many!*

Rand al'Thor, and his friends Perrin Aybara and Matrim Cauthon, along with his gf Egwene al'Vere, the "leader of the group" Aes Sedai (witchy type character) Moraine Demandred, her Warder (bodyguard) al'Lan Mandragoran, and a gleeman (bardish fellow) Thom Merrilin set out from the Two Rivers (Rand's home) after it is attacked by Trollocs (big orcish things)

They travel North to Baerlon, meet up with Nynaeve (Two Rivers wisdom, or rather, wise woman), and then set out to Tar-Valon. Unfortunately they have stop at Shadar Logoth, a nasty little place. Mat picks up this cursed dagger, and they get split up in the evil city. They all travel in the general direction of Caemlyn, capital of the nation of Andor. Perrin/Egwene set out over plains and talk to this guy that can, well, talk to wolves. They are waylaid by Whitecloaks (zealous ba$tards) and escape by killing some people as the wolves attack in the night. Rand/Mat/Thom go to Caemlyn via boat, and stop at the Whitebridge (magnificient glass bridge). Myrdraal attack (like uber-orcs 'cept they look like humans without faces) and Thom is "killed" (just wounded!) so Rand/Mat escape and the dagger starts to corrupt Mat as they struggle with little rest or food to Caemlyn. Once there Rand and Mat stay at an inn, and Mat doesn't leave the inn because he is sick with the dagger. Rand explores the city, and decides to have a look-see at the palace. He climbs up on a wall, falls in, and meets the hot chick / princess Elayne Trakand which I would not have any problem working out with her :punk: j/k!

Lastly, to escape a long boring explanation of the events, they all meet up in Caemlyn, Moiraine semi-heals Mat and they decide to travel straight to Shienar to not waste time in Tar Valon. They travel via-waygate, which is an uber fast pathway not really in "our" world. Thus they get to Shienar, set out to find the eye of the world, and barely get there escaping death. There they find the Horn of Valere, which when blown will bring back the dead heroes of old to fight in Tarmon Gaidin, the last battle. Two of the Forsaken, uber-badasses!, attack 'em, and they barely kill 'em. Rand goes kind of crazy and goes to this pass where Shienar is barely holding back 10x their number in Trollocs. Rand suddenly becomes God and kills every last Trolloc there with some spell (called a weaving). He then goes to the "Dark One's" chamber and tries to kill 'im. He thinks he does, but he doesn't. They return to Shienar heroes! W00t w00t! uberwoot.gif

You're going to have to simplify that, or else people will never play it more than once. Also, make sure you include an option to skip cutscenes.

Lol, you don't understand. tongue.gif That is the plot of the story, not of the map. The map well, it doesn't have much of a plot! It's not like an rpg or movie. But it still has a lot of depth in gameplay and the such!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-06-01 at 00:31:51
With the average Battle.Net player that might play ur map, they won't understand crap if u know what i mean tongue.gif Simplyfing it might be a good idea....

EDITY..yawn.gifk...I actually read it, sonds good, but if thats like the plot of the story, and not the map, well it would be less confusing....I guess...Sounds good though wink.gif

Aye, looks like a very interesting map (series). But as tuxedo said in the beginning id like to see it when its done mainly because I myself have gone down that road of making the ultimate map and eventually gave up or just had so many things wrong with it i got angry and burned it down happy.gif

I guess that I'm the only one who has read the books? Well... Tear looked awesome to me, not counting the screwed up units (editor?). Tar Valon, looked... not exatly grand but it had potentional. This sounds like a great map IF you can pull it off. Oh and other people, don't doubt what someone can do. Maybe this map will surprise you. Maybe it won't. But give him the benifiet of the doubt, because this map is, if finished, the ultimate diplomacy/rise of.../civ map. Can't wait to see the beta. happy.gif
