Hmm... On the forums that I own(ed), the root admin account cannot be banned/changed by another admin. Maybe I was using a different version of IPB...

If you create a second usergroup and give them every "Admin" power you can, they cannot mess with the root administrator(s). If there was member-locked power, Yoshi would have it anyway, not IP.

Also, I don't see why they admin always pick elites to be moderators, I think that's how EzDay281 got into a forum he doesn't even post in tongue.gif

Uh.. they don't. They pick the people who have been around longer. The admins watch the members, and if they need moderators they decide who would be the best.

Heheh I just thought..if the admin thats getting hacked, has a hack tool, they could hack their hacked account back xP

(p.s. did I say hack too much? xD)

EasiestCheapest solution: outsource admin job to India.

Easiest solution: if we ignore the admin problem then maybe it'll go away.

Both options are incredible suggestions. I laughed really hard when I read the "cheaper" solution. Good stuff.

Against my better judgement, I do think that it would be easy if we just stop caring about past events and move on. If it was a trojan or something that had to do with Moose specifically, then what are the chances that it will happen again considering he demoted himself to a regular "Elite?"

well, they have an odd choice of admin then since most of them are elites/near elites and a bunch of them are inactive tongue.gif

I think Moose's problem isn't on his computer, it's a IPB glitch disgust.gif

Your a quick learner. tongue.gif

IPB is full of security holes; the particular version this board is using, filled with even more.

Which means the person responsible probably doesn't know what he is doing very well. Could be good news, since he probably can't do anything more than IPB exploits.

That's particularly good for SEN v5. If that is in fact the case, SEN v5 is almost completely safe (though it is chaotic at the moment, but I'm sure that will change after the switch tongue.gif).

I'm just glad v4 is back up for the time being. v5 was giving me a headache... too many Global Moderators! pinch.gif

I was helping him out with resorting the topics that got moved. I guess I missed the Oo -> (U) ones. pinch.gif

Yeah I was wondering about that. I think Oo had 4 pages worth of topics and now I think we've got like 6 or 7 topics total. I miss the locked ones in (U)'s forum. GIVE 'EM BACK! biggrin.gif

Well, good job, guys. Even though tons of topics are still missing, it seems like you somewhat saved SEN for the moment.

Ya i guess so, sounds good to me. I guess if they know html xhtml or php css they could. wait...staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=33476, okay html and php. And maybe xhtml. My point is they gotta know that crap.

I wanna be a tutorial keeper or dldb or seomthin like that though, that would be pretty sweet. lol (never gonna happen) sad.gif

All they need to know is how to go to a script web site, download the script, and run it. They need to know really nothing about how the script works as long as it prints out passwords hashes and session ids. Then its a simple cookie trick, and your an admin.

New admins? Where?

If you guys don't stop getting yourselves into trouble around these parts perhaps you ought to let me in to clean things up a bit. tongue.gif
(Not a serious suggestion, by the way.)

Boy, that makes 3 passwords I've had to change thanks to this site. ranting.gif Though maybe I should just stop being lazy and not recycle passwords between sites from now on. closedeyes.gif
(I'd probably make a lousy admin doing that, anyway.)

Which wouldn't classify this person as a "hacker", just a simple exploiter/Script Kiddie.

I think that the admins were doing a good job managing at SEN. If we need a new admin, maybe it could be solely for security? I don't know much about coding but this "security admin" could be responsible for patching up all the holes that Invision created.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-08-10 at 19:09:18
I think that's what IP is doing already as best as he can. And I assume SEN version 5 wont have those same holes, so he's doing a damn fine job trying to stop what he can.
