I remember reading this book but one can turn invisible if there faster then the speed of light but since thats physically impossible by all standards a mirror is really an instrument for faster then the speed of light because when looking into it light bounces off and it is really seconds behind you....

Ya but this would not allow someone to become invisible, unless a bunch of mirrors in a certain way that could make the person invisible, but they are planning on making a metamaterial where this occurs but there is just no reflection off the object, so it is making a mirror into the opposite side but switch.

People say that bending light is impossible.  Well in space we believe that a black hole can stop time, we already know that black holes can bend light.  So whats the complication?

Because you can't recreate an infinite amount of mass in a space of zero volume creating infinite gravity that would essentially break the curvature of space-gravity. To do so you would need an incredible amount of mass, like that of a Red Giant star.

I think I have one in my pocket. I am getting this information from Popular Science, this is what I read, they are developing a metamaterial that bends light. Maybe they are using that term by it not reflectin any light. Idk, thats what it says.

I guess the theory behind that is that if light isn't hitting the object, you can't see it. That would require the light was only coming from one direction though, and that you were moving the opposite direction as light. In any case, if we could travel that fast, we wouldn't need to be 'invisible'.

I'm pretty sure you're just seeing a constant stream of light. The light you're seeing is where you think it is, it's just that the next second you'll be looking at new light.

This is what Wikipedia has on Cloak of Invisibility:

On October 19, 2006, a joint effort between scientists from England and the United States of America produced a cloak that prevented a copper cylinder from being detected by microwaves. The cloak was made from metamaterials. It cast a small shadow, which the designers hope to fix.

The device works only in two dimensions and only on microwaves, items are still visible to the naked eye although the research may lay ground work to address that form of invisibilty.

I don't know if anyone has linked to the livescience.com article yet, so I will.

??? How does that work?

Going faster than light doesn't prevent light from hitting the object. And even if you could keep an object from having any light hit it, it would still show up just by contrast.

Actually it is possible. Having a suit that vibrates so fast would render it invisible.

Hook me up when you do that.
