Yes the minimap ping will be quite useful, but they had hacks for those long before Blizzard decided it was necessary for SC to have it.

Overall I'm not impressed. Just adds things and doesn't fix much. More bugs. Watch we get maps that crash the game from the setup with the minimap thing.

You don't know that. This is just a "taste" of the "features". They didn't say "THIS IS ALL THE 1.12 PATCH WILL DO!".

some times they even mess up the game, i wouldnt be surprised if SCBW crashes more often.

Does anyone beside me realize that making another patch for Starcraft, this time with so many features, would just delay Starcraft 2 from coming out?

Well, some people like defense maps, it's not like they were forced to play them. Maybe they don't care about strategy (even though that's the point of SC). It's why you see so many defense games nowadays.


Well disliking them by speculating that it will be a total failure is unreasonable. A lot of people would like Blizzard to keep things the way it is, so they're afraid of fixing something because they might do a half-assed job at it (ala the floating drone "fix" in patch 1.10) and get blamed left and right. Adding things adds new flavor into the game, enough to keep existing fans interested.

Wait until it's released, then say whether it's complete crap or not.

Okay, guys, I had a dream about this patch last night (I read about it the day before), and if you believe in illogical crap like premonitions then you'll believe me when I say that this patch is going to rule. Is it wrong to dream about StarCraft?

The extended players/colors/units changing though might suck... So many maps use player 13/14, or other colors or glitches or w/e that alot of them might be screwed up...

EDIT: On the other hand, if the extended players and glitches and stuff etc were changed, it could be the start of even greater mapping discoveries...

Sure, they're giving us a "taste", but what about the whole meal.. I'm saying what other new features could they be adding...

lets see, first you want a new patch, and want blizzard to not forget SC, now that the announce it and a few features you complain that they are making a patch ???

SC is not becoming like warcraft. its still going to have same units, same strategies, same races. they're just adding some stuff. things that wont change gameplay(except maybe the map ping but thats still cool.)

I love that they're taking all of the good things from WC, but leaving all the . Yay.

I think i figured out the "make rally points work better feature".

If you set a rally on a mineral they will go mine and if you set it on an enemy building they will go attack there.

Something like that. =/

Chill out dude. They're putting the better features of WC3 into SC, thats all.

It would be nice if they threw in the Wc3 Clan feature system.

thats about the stupidest thing i heard ever, and i even talked with a guy really trying to convince he was a incredible pro for knowing explosion triggers today. and he definitly outsmart you

whatever feature you can use, you cant say it removes playability. i cant think of any situation in any game in any kind of map in any genre that supports your line of tought

but as a attempt to convince you.. lets say you have a simple cannon def against zerglings, if you stack you can form up a blockade they have to walk around (strategy) or if you cant stack you just have to build up a ugly junk of cannons that shoot everywhere (less strategy)

They only reason they updated StarEdit because they had to make it compatible with BW. I doubt any other changes to the editor will ever happen in this or any future patches.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOW THIS PATCH IS GOING TO BE SO COOL!! I'm happy they went back to working on SC.
