actually the eventual goal of physics is one big law that accounts for everything..they already ghavce a name for it...unified theory..obviously they dont have it made yet but thats one of the goals.

Yes, but I'm saying you can never know for sure that the next time something happens it will be different.

When have I ever said the goal of physics was anything else?

The problem is nothing is ever perfect. You can't make a law that accounts for EVERY possibility.

you said it right here, well kinda.

I agree, you never can know for certain, but it's wisest to play the odds and count on the 99.9999999999...% chance that gravity and other such universal laws wont fail.

"Kinda" doesn't mean I said it.

you did say that it wasn't physist's goal but you did say that it was an impossible goal for anyone.

you might want to refer back to your idea that you dont know what will happen until it has already has happend, this could apply for your idea that it's an impossible goal to acheive. maybe now it's an impossible goal, but who can say that in the next moment it wont be.

I havn't read the last 5 posts, just too lazy.

Exact quote from science teacher:
"Laws basically tell you WHAT is happening, while theories basically tell you WHY it's happening."

Like for example, you turn on your lamp.
What is happening? The light comes on. (Law)
Why is it happening? Because of electron this and electron that. (Theory)

Ya I'm sure that in the next moment people will be able to predict the future.

Lol okay, I think someone needs to learn how to read better. And no, that's not me. Cough cough, not to mention learn how to follow simple grammar rules.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rhiom on 2005-08-26 at 14:49:48
hmm, could say a thing or to back on the matter of simple rules but wont, anyways by saying i suck at grammer doesnt disprove my point. it also doesnt give anymore credit to your own.

ps: unless someone has somehting really important to say on this subject still im gonna close the topic. leaving it open because i hope someone with somehitng intellgent to say comes in, im not leaving it open so devilsky can openly mock my dyslexia, but my hope that someone with something intellegent to say comes, out weighs his flaming, lol

You realize dyslexia has nothing to do with creating grammatically correct sentences?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rhiom on 2005-08-29 at 14:47:39
what do u beleive dyslexia to be? its a problem with the way you view and order sentences in your mind, that why many young children have problems learning to read and write when they have dyslexia because they order things differently or view them differently, this doesnt not help with learning a language becuase languages need to be orderd and in the correct possition for them to make sense, so when i compose a sentence my brain thinks of it differently then the average person, so what i actually put it down on paper it is possible for it to come out wroung.

QUOTE
One of the most obvious — and a common — telltale signs is reversals. People with this kind of problem often confuse letters like b and d, either when reading or when writing, or they sometimes read (or write) words like “rat” for “tar,” or “won” for “now.”

Another sure sign, which needs no confirmation by means of any form of testing, is elisions, that is when a person sometimes reads or writes “cat” when the word is actually “cart.”

The person who reads very slowly and hesitantly, who reads without fluency, word by word, or who constantly loses his place, thereby leaving out whole chunks or reading the same passage twice, has a reading problem.

The person may try to sound out the letters of the word, but then be unable to say the correct word. For example, he may sound the letters “c-a-t” but then say “cold.”

He may read or write the letters of a word in the wrong order, like “left” for “felt,” or the syllables in the wrong order, like “emeny” for “enemy,” or words in the wrong order, like “are there” for “there are.”

He may spell words as they sound, for example “rite” for “right.”

He may read with poor comprehension, or it may be that he remembers little of what he reads.

The person may have a poor and/or slow handwriting.

Imagine a person who had to focus on each word in a sentence and make sure that it is in the right order/ rigth possition. dont you think that at some point this person mightmake grammtical errors becuase to because the focus is on each word instead of the whole sentence, which then leaves the sentence fragmented and sometimes inconprihensable. Now imagine that person trying to epxlain somehting which cant beexplained in short simple sentences but isntead needs paragraphs, dont u think at some point that person would have to give up some focus somewhere? so do u stop focusing on the main point and rant into some incomprehensible and completely off subject discussion? or do you focus on the main point but then lose your grammitcal and spelling abilities? i prefer to stay on topic (this is funny becuase the whole discussion is nto on topic sense like the second page) and get the main ideals across, instead of derailing my train of thought so that u can read every last sentence perfectly. i.e. even if you miss a word or two, or even the point of a couple sentences there is enough supporting material that you can understand what i am trying to say, and therefore do not need the sentence or word that is lost sense if you use any form of brain power you can figure out what i was trying to say from the rest of the text.

anyways, my dyslexia doesnt prevent me from writing correctly, and i really should be more carefull, but it is also still possible to see my points so instead of argueing whether or not i suck at writting, which indeed i do suck at writing, we should be argueing on more pertinent points. Im sorry for what ever confusion my grammatical errors have caused or what confusion they might still cause in the future.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2005-08-29 at 18:06:02
Well, the worst thing you can do is to write (or type) something that has problems. Because that would only be helping the problem; if you ask me, you should reread everything you type to make sure it has no grammatically incorrect sentences.

That can't be done when you have one huge paragraph with grammar mistakes and incorrect puncation.

It's not our problem, it's yours. It only hurts you when people can't understand what you are talking about.

Rhiom, you know what? My dad has dyslexia, and though he couldn't spell for blam, he had the best grammar in his english classes.

And you know what? Bad grammar and spelling does make your point harder to see. Let me argue about dyslexia with bad grammar:

i thinc that dyslexia doesent cause my point look more wroung and that i dont need follow the simplest rools of grammar liek why do i need punctuation and lol like wut gud is capital letters and the starts of the sentenses lol excuse my bad grammar i am very much more intelligenter than u dumbas lololololol

QUOTE(Rantent @ Aug 17 2005, 09:07 AM)
To answer your question. Genetic variance happens randomly. The animals who are better able to survive in the environment will develop better than the ones who develop processes that hinder them. So evolution would include both of those ideas.
We develop randomly, but because of that randomness the better suited animals survive better.

I'd like just to keep things precise and clear: evolution is NOT random in the common meaning of this word. Here are my 2 cents:

1)Mutations can NOT occur in any given place in the genome, because some parts of it are more 'guarded' by the enzymatic repair system (e.g. the essential proteins for the ATP synthesis), and some other are less guarded. Thus - the mutations in one place will be less tolerated than in another place.

2)Some mutations have lethal effects, thus preventing the organism from reaching maturity and passing their genes over. Thus, if such a mutation occur and the organism dies, it is not added to the genetic pool of the population.
