eh more contestant... not coming out as great as i thought... something seems very missing...

It's probably because the prompt makes it very difficult to make somehting other than high dirt against costal cliff.

Nobody's even tried a psi feild. If you do it right it could work... (qPirateKing)

Actually I was gonig to try that with some alternating bridge tiles to make it look like waves but it didn't work out.

So who are any of you to tell someone that he/she cannot post here?

He keeps flaming the contest for no reason. Sure he can have his opinion, but there's no reason to keep posting insults to this thread. I mean, it's like going into a map production thread and repeatedly calling the map noobish.

Freedom of speech, he can post anything he wants as long as it follows the rules. I see no flame in there.

Perhaps the real issue is that he's getting mineral posts for doing so?

Look at both sides of the coin, you are getting minerals for the comments you said against him.

Now they're just going to come at you with an ragument full of fallacies.

I haven't said anything against him in the competition thread. I haven't even posted here until now.

And that was like what, two minerals, maybe 4-6 with this one? He's garnered more than that by saying (about four times) how poorly run this competition is, so don't accuse me of that.

Well, 00cnr is running it, not WoodenFire. It's pretty much his decision.

Valug i dont exactly see why the judges have to be the best terrain makers. Most people who knows how to make terrain should know whats good and whats bad. And if you have problems with judges go pm 00cnr. And tell you the truth I am pretty active in this. Just that there wasnt much contestant as we thought.

Well, maybe if some good terrain makers posted and said they had an interest in judging the compition... If you think you would be a better judge maybe you should have said, "I want to judge," but its too late now.

People that know less about terrain make better judges, as they would more reasonably represent the main populace of starcraft players. Although, I would rather have a poll or something where anyone could select what they felt was good.

You miss the point here. In terrain, the most complicated blends can really amount to nothing. Sure, it's well blended, but who gives a damn? Woah, your stacked cliffs, man, and your custom doodads, great for screwing up unit movement and boring the hell out of the players. Complexity of blends takes no priority over appearance and functionality. it's like saying an ugly painting is better then a pretty because there were more brush strokes, it doesn't matter if it doesn't accomplish anything.

Well I kind of agree with Rantent. Some not expert terrain makers will know the view point of what people like in the other hand when a expert only looks at what is blended and what not. Not sure what point Wihelm was trying to make but dont think he was talking about judges... And i agree with Wilhelm also. And i feel like, just becuase the judges arent the expert terrain makers does not mean anything will be rigged. If someone makes a good terrain it will obviously look good and if someone makes a bad one it will. Maybe we cant catch the most finest details but it is obviously if something is blocky or not, and if someone abused on using spirtes and etc. Well im sorry if you guys were dissapointed with the judges but if you guys have problem just pm next time dont post in the thread please. Unless you really have something to express... Freedom of speech

How come nobody is gambling? It's a way to make some mins. There's no prize for the winner if no one gambles.

Well i hope they will once we tell them more or something.
