I prefer the Final Struggle LotR creation technique, almost no waits used for anything.

I know it's been a long time since I've posted, time to start working the 'ole forums again! Well, I suspect that this summer will yield quite a production of maps, as all of our young map makers will be flocking from the inner Hells of their schools. In the meantime though... I'm creating two new(ish) maps, or rather, I'm working on some old maps of mine again.

1)Lord of the Rings (The definitive Lord of the Rings map!)
2)The Battle of Minas-Tirith

Heh, I dunno if I should be posting this stuff in this forum, but I will anyway. My new Minas-Tirith map goes something like this:

1.01 Two sides:
-Forces of Minas-Morgul (attackers)
-Forces of Minas-Tirith (defenders)

I've based the various sides around three different types of players. For each side, one player will have uber-army, one will have mid-army, and one will spawn a few elite units. The worse the army is, the better the heroes that player gets. Since Minas-Tirith is starved for reinforcements, their spawns consist of a dozen to a score (20) of units. They do receive Denethor, a goliath hero more geared toward defense with decent HP and armor, but a nice amount of damage. Faramir is a kickass marine hero, that has more HP and armor, but lower damage because of his unit type. The only units Minas-Tirith spawns are swordsmen, longbow/shortbow archers, pikemen, and a few Guards of the Citadel (dragoons).

The second "good" player is the Citadel of the Guard. They receive, as heroes, Imrahil, a hero ghost useful for taking out the normal baddies from a distance. Beregond is a powerful dragoon hero that can take out the "tanks" : things such as trolls and even Grond itself. They spawn the normal units to reinforce the walls named above, and they get to spawn a nice amount of Knights of Dol-Amroth (goliaths) and Guards of the Citadel.

Lastly, the heroic player comes up. Gandalf is the biggest badass of them all, and he is a Tassadar Templar figure that does high damage with vast amounts of HP and decent armor. Fighting alongside this wizard champion is Peregrin Took, a dark templar that can easily hold a defensive position with his cloak. Shadowfax, the lord of horses, is a Protoss Shuttle that is of course faster than the other players' dropships. They spawn only in a few places, due to the fact that they will own hero-wise. As you can see, the different players are varied in their strengths. You can expect the evil players to be slightly stronger hero wise and have hordes of units, requiring the good players to actually adopt defensive positions. Some strategies that I hope to integrate are actually forming positions. I'm willing to accept any suggestions as how I would go about this. I'm thinking of simply a beacon labeled as "form position" somewhere not used in the battle portion of the map, and they can use their observer to move around and form a position.

1.02 - The greatest of cities finally comes alive!

Believe me you when I say I spent the longest time creating Minas-Tirith. The wrap-around effects that come from these buildings is something new to behold. It is like taking the skyscraper buildings x3 in difficulty and time spent creating them. I'm at school presently (last day woohoo!) and thus I cannot upload and gawdly screenshots presently, just wait for, say, five hours. The thing is, this map has actual depth! There is a wall for each level, and you have to go up (custom) stairs. Why do I say custom? Nearly everything is customized! Just wait, I'm so excited. You'll see the glory soon (I know you guys will be over-critical! Ga ha ha, so I'll just take it like a man this time!). Well, I have stuff to attend to, but I shall be back!
