Obviously a completely free government could not function so there has to be some restrictions. Although going to that extreme is ridiculous.

To me this is one of those debates like abortion where it all depends on what you call living. In this case, how you define free. The fact is that there is no real answer, just oppinions with basis or without a basis.

I think technicaly America is a free country (By most of its laws and constitution.) However corruption is inebitible in even the most strongly built nations. The patriot act has some parts to it that go against the constitution. One could consider this corruption of sorts. Technicaly were allowed to vote for who we want to be president but of course somewhere its rigged.

I think this is more a corruption topic to me because theoreticaly America is free but corruption is the part that restricts freedom. So, how corrupt has America become?
