Our tap water is well water, but I still prefer ice that's melted. It just tastes different for some reason.

Omg...Seems alot of people like filtered. I HATE filtered, tastes baddd. You should compare filtered to pure bottled...you'll notice the diffrence.

I drink water to rehydrate myself, there's no special art form in it. Tap water has a few chemicals, so what? Everyone drinks tap water so if it was truly that bad we would all be dead. I've never gotten sick from water before so I really don't care how I get it.

It is a carbohydrate, meaning it has oxygen as well.
And plastic isn't hydrocarbons either, gasoline and candels are hydrocarbons. (Although I suppose you could argue that candels are plastics)
Plastic simply means any material that can be easily molded, but generally refers to a polymer of Carbon, hydrogen, and either chlorine, nitrogen or some other compound mixed in as well into long chains.

I live in Boston and we have some of the best water in the country. But I know what you mean. When I visited some people in New Orleans (pre Katrina), I noticed that the water smelled like swamps and had a slightly greenish hue when boiled.
