the regular circles , not the elaborate ones i always thought were from small tornados, that formed then deformed in a few seconds.

Well Kellimus, they might possibly have some sort of ramjet or something or other that could produce the required power, but this still leaves the problem of actually getting from there to here.
A. The ship would take a long time traveling here at a reasonable speed of say, a quarter or maybe even half the speed of light.
B. Traveling at those speeds, I would speculate that even a speck of dust would cause damage. With the ship moving at such high speeds (which involves a lot of kinetic energy) hitting something would well, do something with that energy.
Still, if the aliens had the power to get here, they might as damn well have the power to protect themselves while getting here. But that would cost even more.

To me, you sound like you are steriotyping aliens, so they are like us.
Who knows, they might be like us, and they might not be. I believe that they are so far advanced beyond our knowledge, that they have developed ways to travel at the speed of light, or even faster
Maybe they have wormhole technology that allows them to create wormholes? Who knows?
And they have shields. There is no doubt about that.
I believe that aliens don't need to pay to build anything, they are to advanced to comprehend, or even care about money, cause all that does is cause greed, and power, and to build a glorious, and thriving advanced civilization, you cannot have those two things...
