I haven't read all of this thread, but I want to know if people who are warned get a message, manual or automatic (it doesn't matter) alerting them that they were warned? This could fall under anything that a moderator took action in, from reporting posts to changing signatures.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chef on 2005-07-08 at 17:33:26
They don't. It's the moderators call if they want to let the member know if they're being warned.

I've been notified by everyone that's warned me except for one time when Kame da Snipa warned me.

Same here, only she's warned my several times. She gives vague hints that she's warned you, but doesn't make a solid statment.

This was a very unprofessional thing to do, whoever did it.

Changing your name to staredit.net was completely naive and stupid.

I will also add that no where in the rules does it highlight that "StarEdit.net" can not be your account.

Um... maybe because it should be that obvious?

Can it be StarEdit?

That really doesn't matter much devilesk, the mods here are fair for the most part, they don't just warn people because they don't like them.

That only works if you lack a spine.

I think PsychoTemplar should be a moderator of the Melee Forums. Entropy rarely moderates it, and Chu recently became a Forum Leader of them, but he's already a Global Moderator, plus I rarely see him post in that forum. I'm not saying the forum is being misled, however I think some things weren't tooken care of when they should have been, due to a lack of moderators (especially in the Melee Assistance). PT is active in the Melee Forums, he's made some maps, he's helped some people, and someone I think that can be trusted.

Two shoutbox kings running for mod? lol disgust.gif

Not to burst your bubble, but I don't think PyshcoTemplar commands much respect among the general populace.

When I first started being a moderator, literally the first day on the job, I told a guy when I had warned him what he had done and that I had raised his level. Immidiatly after, he got all angry, if it was over PM I wouldn't have minded, but he'd start topics about "OMG I GOT WARNED BY A GIRL!!" thanks to the admins, he was done away with, since it was repeated spamming and flaming. Later, one of the people with more expierence than me told me that it wasn't a good idea to tell people when they are warned, because it creates problems like that.

[no names mentioned so I don't get anyone in trouble or make it look like I'm pointing my finger]

I see your point though. I'll tell you when I warn you, unless an admin has a problem with that. Deal? happy.gif

You forgot the most important reason to ban him. It's sexist. If you're including sexism in the catagory of flamming you're proving how vague you are.

Confrontations are a part of life. At work, at home, with friends. Ignoring it is kinda pathetic. If the theory here, is that if someone breaks the rules, they're not worthy of the site, fine. But different moderators have diffrent policies, so it messes up the whole system.

What on Earth made you think that would be a good thing to say?

"Called Chu a jerk"? You seriously consider that a warnable offense? I can think of 50 worse ways he could put that. You are offended far too easily, Kame. I don't think Chu is going to go home and cry over that one.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2005-07-10 at 18:16:09
Ah ha. I get it. I'm such a moron. I get it. I was sent a report on it, and it was technically flaming, so I warned him.

Is that something I was warned for, or the guy she was talking about in her first day of moderation? Fill me in please.

You got warned for it - I'll remove it but only because I'm not offended - I think Kame is right in trying to get rid of all kinds of flaming/insults in that forum. It's the only forum I think really needs strict moderation.

Kellimus was warned for calling Chu immature. Oh, and Chris was banned for calling Chu a fag. smile.gif

FYI: I wasn't asking for a removal of warn, I was just curious. But I think you see what I mean by moderators conflicting opinions, right?
