You can create any type of map, multiplayer or single player.

These are the three dumbest rules I have ever read in a map making contest:

> Any Trigger System done after November 23 is allowed.
> Public Alpha/Beta testing is not allowed. (Don't want you to spoil us the map)
> You may not publicy release the map until the end of the Contest. (You may give it to a few friends.)

That first one is so vague, what does it apply to? I can't use the Dropship system? I can't use any triggers that were created before now? That rule doesn't even apply, or no maps would be allowed at all.

That second rule is incredibly dumb. You have to have other people to test your map if your map is anything but single player. This rule shouldn't be there.

That last rule is wierd, and it contradicts rule #2. You need to be able to test it, and I don't see what the problem in releasing it is.

I don't want to give you an unprotected version of my map. I plan to beta test it. I plan to publically release it. I plan to use triggers that existed before November 23rd. Does this disqualify me?

I think he means that you may:
- use triggers that your created after 23 november.... what is an stupid rule indeed
- not place your map online for alpha/beta testing.... that's a good rule because you have to make the map yourself and not let everyone else help you with sending tips, hints, bugs, better trigger, etc.
- give it to some friends so they CAN test it for you if you need more players or just want someone to test it, this is also a good rule coz you may not publish it to everyone in the world but every map needs good testing (exept bounds maybe tongue.gif)

but you're right, it look really stupid happy.gif and the first rule is...eeeh....kinda dump smile.gif

God, Sala need to flame a little less. The first rule says that if something is discovered before the contest is over (new trick, etc.) you can use it. The second like you said is good, and the third is a little weird. THat's it.

The first one means that if something is discovered say during the contest you can use it. You don't have to use tricks developed before Nov 23. I put that rule there because some people may think that they can't use tricks done after the contest started.

Public Alpha/Beta testing is not allowed because of several reasons:
People may steal your map/ideas
Judges may actually play the map. As far as I know judges ain't supposed to play the maps until deadline is over.

You may not publicy release it. That means you can't post it for everyone to dl.
People will start playing it and depending on wether they liked the map or not they will think that the contest was a fraud and was already sold.
The idea of the contest is to introduce new maps to the comunity but introduce them with a bigger introduction.

You can give it to your friends via e-mail and stuff but you can't just post it on the SEN or whatever so that everyone can dl it.

You don't need to give me an unprotected version of the map.
You can privately Beta test it but not public.
You can release it after the deadline for the reason I stated above.

DT_Battlekruser, you can go censored.gif yourself in the anus until you bring yourelf to orgasm via prostate stimulation.

Oh yeah, Thanks for clearing this up Beer_Keg.

You may not publicy release the Aplha/Beta/Full version of the map you are entering in the contest.
That means that you can't post it for anyone to dl it.
But you can send it to certain people privately.

Sala doesn't flame as he has constructive criticism of what he says as faults, his first wasn't a flame but a correct question on the nature of the rules, he second was a reply, and did include flame, but in response to further flame you cannot blame him.

Yes that I can tolerate.
But don't tell anyone (including me) that the map in that thread is for the Contest.
Also don't try to give out too much info about the gameplay.

No because that would be unfair.

There should be another prize where the person who wins also earns a special sig that signifies they won the contest.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by .Coko[CK] on 2004-12-06 at 17:14:29
Well, they can do that themselves?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2004-12-06 at 19:46:16
Look at the prizes. They state that you get atrophy in the profile.

i gues its fun to first anounce the map that wins as the contest winner instead of just a canditate.
but it sucks that i cant spread around my finished map for over 1 1\2 month

I have a few quastions about the map...

1. can the map have a mod with it (and the map will be a singal player)?
2. can it be a movie map?
3. can it be a serial of maps, like... a short scenario?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by High on 2004-12-13 at 15:58:32
1. No
2.Yes
3.Yes
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2004-12-13 at 18:48:46
No it cannot be a mod since you will have very different resources at hand and we will have to judge you diffirently.
Yes Movie maps are welcome.
A series of maps is also ok, but please remember that campaing like scenarios can only be played in single player.

I thought of those 2 very points right there.
I went with anouncing winners's map to the public for the first time since the public will play it a lot because most of them didn't play it.

When I announce the 5 winners below those 5 I will post all the other candidates and some honorable mentions which show some promise on making maps.

All maps submitted will be posted, since it's not fair to leave those maps hidden from the public.

Yea it's ok since there isn't any actuall gameplay. Andit just introduces the map to the public without being a test, which has features and stuff.

*Update*

The contest is now going more international than ever. Ever since our Russian buddies at http://Starcraft.ru asked me about the contest I have been getting more and more e-mails from people outside SEN.

NOw I have gone and submitted the news to our affiliates, SCIndex, Team Areola and Entropy and posted the news of this contest to make it even bigger.
