Yes you can, thats how Critters can be placed in a map. Heimdall showed that any P12 unit can be placed in a map, and it will appear without it being a UMS game.

Wtf... when i tried that it just removed all but critters.
His sc is smokin some pot
I suspect it was Unit Sprites. I haven't tested that to see if it works, though, but I heard you CAN place P12 unit sprites and they will show up in melee.
Ic,
Another thing i forgot to mention
ANY unit that crashes when moved CAN be moved
as long as you go to the right.
Cloaked battlecruisers do this (with disable/enable/enableorder)
I moved the probe and it just spun to its destination (directly right)
So ha. it can move!
Edit:
You can get the probe to move other directions (up down left etc.) by putting units that as it spins knock it out of its "orbit"
Edit II:
I somehow got the turret to blink normal and gray BLACK (like when u take a unit, make it cloaked, then hallucinated, then cloaked again, then normal, then hallucinated. if u want i cna give in more detail, its a glitch i found), and the crash sprite popped up, and the probe froze, (i havnt crashed, luckily some of these crashes dont work less you do it again)

Tuxedo's probally right. The map that I saw either had unit sprites, I was hallucinating, or Blizzard changed this in Patch 1.12.
Off Topic: Voyager's 100th post.
Blizzard did not change anything related to gameplay in 1.12 and 1.12b.
I had this working when i placed a mass of probes, a beacon to spawn 2 hallucinations, and then some buildings.
Then i changed and made alot nicer then it crashed..
so i made so u hallucinate the powerup manually, pick up with the probe, let it die, pick some units that are spawned (with triggers), and then i kill the probe and it crashes. Wtf went wrong? It's the same as the one that comes from here... Just less "you build it" and more go to an area to spawn 3 of these guys. do you have to spawn one at a time? Ifso, there is my problem
it does:
Trigger |
Conditions: |
¤ Brings to Arbiter |
Actions: |
¤ Create 3 Arbiter at X |
Shud it create one unit at a time?I got it working
Is it okay I'll make a guide map about this? So then it won't crash more often.

I am replying (again) to this a little late, I forgot about this untill I was reading through this again:
ANY player sprite of any kind will be able to be in melee. Possably even Drawn as unit (havn't tried with the Unit ones though.)
Also I remade the map, made it a little nicer and added a Help thing that tells you how to do it step by step; also giving you time to do everything
(It takes a little less than 58000ms for a powerup to die)
Can i see screenshots please like Mrrll did.
I dont have SC right now so i can't view the replays. thank you
Congrats on the great discovery! It definetly has potential. Probably in rpgs as weapon switch or as people with different weapons. Everything I've discovered is totally lame compared to this. All I've discovered is infested terran glitch, terrain placer glitch, invalidate unit glitch, and over remove remove unit glitch. It would rock if a probe held a valkyrie. 5x7=35
The one thing I don't get is why firebats have 3 hits but do a total of 16 damage. Each hit does 8, so shouldn't it be 24.
No, it doesn't deal firebat damage. It deals the peon damage the weapon's number of times.
Yeah, that's obvious too.
This glitch... is beautiful... i can see many maps using this. This can most likely be the best sc glitch found.
The problem with that:
-People don't use it right.
-People crash the game on PURPOSE.
-Stupid B.netters don't always understand it very well and go "WTF DiS t3h SuXX0rZ!"
Otherwise...it'd be great.....
(I feel posty today....my participation/posts per day sucks....)
Dude, bnetters dont goto sen, make a private game with a password, or just ban all of them for fun. Look at my replays, I used it right... and they don't crash the game on purpose, bcuz they are not patience to wait the whole hallucination to get out, or they didn't create new units that will replace the item, or they moved the units that is going to replay the hallucination item, or they picked up a larva which obviously will crash.
Now the question is where to use this glitch.
UMS maps mainly, I've seen a couple people already use it in their map (not sure the maps are finished or not).
I use it, only problem is the 1 minute wait at the beginning. (Gets kinda boring).
I am even working maps based around this (Probe Arena; you have probe and pick something up and try and kill them)
What one minute wait? You can just preplace the hullinated powerups with 1% energy. Right?
That doesnt work, powerups don't have energy. and I tried modifying it, didn't work.
Just put nothing in the briefing except "Explained in-game", then for the first minute it explains it. Then they aren't bored *completely* to death by a black screen.
this is kool, but there isnt a whol lotta use for the probe walking around with a unit in front of it, sc crashes if you have the civ on the probe and attack a building, but right b4 it crash a rock doodad appears above the prob, and if you attack another unit it creates a rock doodad above the probe...
Reasons for crashing:
• Killing the peon holding the powerup with no units created after. It's like dropping nothing. Dropping something that doesn't exist, and that is impossible, thus crashing.
• Picking up a unit that turns into a building or something and turning it around. Unfourtinately, these "images" were not designed to turn around, and because of the lack of images in the GRP(sprite) file, it crashes because it can't find the proper images. This crash can be fixed by adding more entries in the GRP files.
• Picking up a unit that can not normally attack, and attacking with it. These units have no registered attacking animation in IScript.bin. It then loads nothing as a script and crashes. This can be fixed by giving the units attack animations.
About 90% (or something up there with that) of the time, it will crash if you attack with an un-attacking powerup. The remaining percent it won't crash. But would you want to have a game where 90% of the time it will crash? Ifso, thats just messed up.
Also when I attacked with tank base instead of making a rock doodad, the tank became an orange square with some horizontal lines missing
ADDITION:
Also, you should find a way to test where you somehow pick up the stuff like Stasis Feild. Then you probably would get more. *Most likely not possable* also thoes units are probably the rest of the speed-altering units.

only problem with this is......if people start using it in there maps and it happens to go public then it will be even more noticable and eventually blizzard will make a n00b patch to fix it thus making the maps obsolite and getting rid of all our fun!
and it wouldnt be that hard to stop....just make it to where peons cant pick up halicated powerups and were doomed!
thats why i hate blizzard. every time someone finds a cool glitch that can be used while making maps, they get rid of it. im sure that you wont be able to do this in 1.13.
they will obviously come out with that patch in one year and one month
