Competition doesn't mean releasing something the earliest, it means achieving the greatest overall stand in many different areas, which all involved are striving to be the top of, which although you may not feel like you are, you are...

You do it in everything, and anything, and cannot help it, it is human nature. Yet, i doubt most of you were thinking on these lines, more likely about time, which isn't the case, and anyhow, everyone rushes one way or another.

About the movie idea, since i haven't seen the trailer, i was making a talk on the whole subject of games to movie ideas, and although i did agree that on some aspects it would be possible, and achieve results, overall, bring a film lover, i dislike such films and so my personal opinion comes in.

Final Fantasy was a good visual display, though the movie itself seemed to lack in actual enjoyment, i found times where if i could i would of changed the channel in the cinema, and often did at home. But it was far from the Final Fantasy styles i remember, which again i am not that fond of.

You're right, Felagund, but part of having a functional civilization is that we at least attempt to not devolve all our interactions into petty squabbles and infantile contests of will. I'm not making money here. I'm not trying to gain someone's/something's favor. I'm not trying to one up any one else's work. Therefore, I have no pressing reason to be a jerk and bring everyone else down for my own benefit. It's fun to compete sometimes, but at this point I fully appreciate my own superiority with SC mapping such that it doesn't do anything for me to do so, short of competing with myself.

But nevertheless, I am aiming to achieve the greatest possible work I can do in SC before I retire, and aiming for anything short of the best map ever simply will not do at this point.

dude tuxedo is my favorite map maker and i watch tha trailer like 8 times in a row everyday cause i love it soo much. But also check out his other maps to...all of them own

Who... the HELL said anything about petty squabbles? Call it what you will, a competition might very well bring out a better map than you can manage without. And you've completely mistaken my intent. You make A&O seem like it's gonna be this great RPG, but in reality, it can't match up to Borrowers. Nothing can.

You mean that nothing compares to XXXFASTEST MAP EVER 2004XXX! I'm sure you were just forgetting yourself, because if you actually go on the amount of people playing it, then that above, is the greatest map of all time.

And even when this RPG comes out, a lot of people will think it is a terrible waste, and we should all be playing Melee, and since they far out-number the UMS community, that would put this RPG in the minority.

*sigh*, maybe you can shut up and read what I said earlier about not being a petty twit about other people's works. I do plan to make this the greatest RPG for SC to date, but it won't (read: can't) appeal to everyone's interests no matter how well I make it, simply because there is no way any given game or map can encompass the diversity of all people who play it. Therefore, I am NOT going to squat on other people's projects for my own benefit, even if I can get away with it, because it just brings everyone down in the end.

Besides the people in the audience who are watching the mapmakers trying to outdo each other, of course...

Well, life does go on I suppose... I hope Tux somehow finds spare time and has enough sanity and desire to make maps when he retires from a real job. (around like 40 years later, meh.. like i'll still be playing this then )
