Were you? Shoot I'm really disorganized with these kinds of things lol.

Well I'm basically done testing until I finish the last part, but I'll have another testing round then before I make the final release. I should also have most of the sections balanced out properly, so you'd probably be better off waiting.

Sorry about that, though.

With the exception of the Gargula fight at the turret it's all too easy for me now, although it's probably far too late to add something like this, it would be kind of nice to be able to choose the difficulty.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. Some levels seem a lot easier than others. By far, the levels I enjoy playing through so far is the Plains and Turret (although Turret can get tiring sometimes).

Well you guys got to play through it before, so you're probably used to the challenge by now. Turning it down probably feels like nerfing it completely compared to before.

Anyway difficulty modes wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'm just not entirely sure how to implement them. But now that I think of it, since I added a lot of fixes to many areas in the form of additional counters to pad out spawns and such, adjusting them would be entirely possible.

Alternatively, I could reduce the amount of money the player receives through kills. That might make things more challenging right there. wink.gif

I just feel I'm opening up a whole new can of worms as far as balancing/testing to do all of that though. I suppose I'll consider it if I have time during the final beta.

Possably change the hero life to virtual HP? :l
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Clokr_ on 2006-05-03 at 14:15:29
Oh yeah tux I forgot this suggestion happy.gif;
Add different levels of difficulty. Just change the time that the player gets for each zone: Easy (you get the normal time + 2 or 3 minutes), Normal (the normal time), Hard (your own time records + 1 or 0.5 minutes)
Remember that your the one that said that you fight against the time, not the death.

Well it definitely seemed like you toned down on the bugs in this version. I was using the life cheat so I didn't have any of the death bugs. One thing I remember having a problem with was when you are on the hgihway in teh vulture with the health cheat, it doesn't refil the bike health. Another thing with annoyed me was that the mutalisks from the chasms kept coming out onto the open field when i had the shotgun out and would make me switch back and forth.

Yeah I was thinking something like that just now, and it would certainly be the most straightforward way to manipulate difficulty. Parts like the turret area though would require other ways, such as money or spawn limiting, and whatnot.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Those mutas shouldn't be able to leave their area, and their spawns should have stopped. I guess that's a bug. Did it keep happening after a certain point or did it eventually stop?

Not at this point in the development, lol. I don't even want to think how many triggers I'd need to revise to accomodate that.

I do have a much more advanced system in store for Rush 2, if ever I get around to it.

Hey, didn't I test Rush once? I seem to remember you showing me a shooting system that you were working on or something. That was a quite a while ago.

-.- After watching the trailer, it really just wants to make me quit map making. Theres just no way i could make a map nearly as good as yours, so i think im gonna stop. Kinda feels good to finally have a good reason to stop =). Anyways, is the testing still in progress? If so, i would like to ask a final map making request, for a spot as a tester.

Wtf? I wouldn't expect you to easily make a map as good as mine, but remember I've been working on this for a long time already. It would be hard not to make something good with the amount of time I spent.

It's not like people are just going to stop playing other's maps altogether once Rush is released either, lol.

Most of the time, when i start something, i try to be best, or very close to best, in this case, i havent had any luck. And i never said it would be easy. Even if i was to work on a map for a year or more, the concept of it would never be as good. Try not to be offended by it. I just see no reason for me to continue making maps if they arent gonna be recognized =p And what of the testing... room for me? sad.gif
