You are already getting your cash worth if you use the thing.  What more do you want?  A nuke to follow it?  Sheesh.

lol a nuke following it would pretty cool, if it atatcked the ground under what the Scourge attacked, or if ithe scourge dies the nuke blows up right there

I just wish Scourges would reacquire targets after their initial target is dead, instead of just blowing up on the spot.

Scourge's are good for scouting at the beginning of a game...That's all i fine usefull for them...Other wise I wouldent bother wasting my mineral's on them, Even though there really cheap...

Scourges are very useful. First of all, they can be used as very cheap and effective scouts. They can harass Zerg Overlords, though resource wise, it's not that great of a move unless you were on a map with little minerals and lots of gas. And for air assaults, attack with some basic air units first. Most players will bunch up their fleets when attacking. The splash with do an incredible amount of damage, and leave most of the ship vulnerable to a follow up attack.

Heck, NEVER use them alone in big air fights. They're useless. But they can easily turn the tides of the battle if you attack first with other units.

You can use them alone if you're targeting small numbers of units. Like a couple BC's, a few cars, a gaggle of SV's.

The Scourge does need to be stronger, it need more hp and they need to do more damage, they are way way to week, if u make an army of them like 10-15 4 turrets can take them out easy, i think they also need to be faster  sly.gif so they can get past obsticals easyier like units and stuff, but if it was strong in health damage and was faster, i think they should increas the ammount of minerals and gass it cost  sly.gif

And why would you send scourges into 10-15 turrets in the first place? Are you still playing money maps? (bleh)

Anyway, the key, as Spaceboy2000 pointed out, is to use them WITH other units. So when you are fighting an air war, use devourers or mutalisks to draw the initial fire, then you grab those scourges and shoot them in and it should help... a LOT. The devourer's attack helps scourges a lot. Since the attack speed of enemies are slowed down, more scourges can get their targets since it takes longer to kill the scourges.

lets put it this way

If you knew the enemy was massing Carriers and Corsairs What would you do?
Exactly... Get scourges and mutas and devis...

Scourges were meant to help players destroy capital ships much easier, not win entire air battles with them.

Dev/Scourge would work nicely since plaeyrs would usually target the Devours and the Devours would make the eney units attack at a much slower rate, causing the Scourges to get much easier hits.

the scourges not only need to be stronger, but smarter.... I took 400 scourges vs like 30 BCs, and they only killed 8. The Scourges need like 2x health and at least 200 Dmg.

I think you need to be smarter and more patient. You can't just send in un-aided scourge and expect them to leave a path of destruction in the air for what you payed for them. That's ridiculous.

What happened to your sourge: The 200 scourge that were not killed automatically by the large fleet of BC's automatically picked the closest 8 BC's. 100 of those scourge actually spread out amoung the 8 BC's and hit them while the last 100 died to splash.

That's what happened to your 400 scourge vs 30 BC's. Lesson learned, micro them and support them.

I find that one huge wave of scourges is not as good as a constant stream. First, like chui noted, the scourge's splash kills itself. Second, the psychological effect of being constantly hammered like that is...devastating. Psychological warfare can be really decisive in a game. Sometimes allowing your opponent to start a small expansion, and then smashing at it repeatedly would more than frustrate your opponent into making some...foolish moves.

And seriously, I hear people taking about massing Battlecrusiers and Carriers. Realistically, building these massive fleets require an ungodly amount of gas and minerals, and these fleets can be crippled with less resource intensive units. Surely, other than money maps where you can afford to piss resources for fun, such fleets are extremely difficult to create. And a few well placed storms or lockdowns, coupled with the right units (dark swarmed hydras with scourge and air support, goons and corsairs with a few archons, upgraded goliaths with SCVs to repair them) can wipe out these fleets easily. Also, you have to remember while you sit and wait for your resources to accumulate and the fleets to build, your enemy has all that time to expand, harasss, scout, and prepare for your fleet.

Actually, the funnest games I've had on these money map was massing a huge field of cannons with friendly air support, making a huge army or cracklings and scourges (trust me, it is VERY demoralizing to have wave after wave of cracklings tearing up your men while a swarm of scourges wipes out a newly formed fleet), or just getting a fleet of science vessels and having fun irradating (only works in REALLY newb games, when the enemy has no air defense). When your enemy starts cursing at you nonstop, you know you've pissed him off royally.
