I'm running a dual 500 MHz G4 (outdated, but runs StarEdit, StarFire, and The whole host of PC editors via Virtual PC). It's a dual-boot with Mac OS 10.3.8 and 9.2.2. My other one is a 600 MHz iMac running 10.3.8. I am a competent Mac user, although I know very little about UNIX. I'm open for testing too!

PS - this makes, what, 8 people? tongue.gif

  1. Will this editor use or implement carbonlib? (For you non-stone age people(like me) stuck in classic, it's a library that lets carbonlib-enabled programs to run natively on OS X, but yet still be runable on the Classic OS: 8.6-9.2.2 ).
  2. If this program uses carbonlib, what will be the minimum carbonlib version? 1.6?
  3. How many of the current 10,000+ lines of code do you guys have ported?
Just some info that has been irking me, that and if this editor is carbon-enabled; I can just axe my sad little REALBasic editor I'm making...

I have no idea what DW is using for the GUI, you'll have to hope he replies.

As for code porting most of the internal code will stay identical on mac and PC, just the entire GUI has to be redone and some of the base classes need to be adapted, as well as byte order stuff on load / save code.

Oh, just the GUI and byte order. Simple smile.gif

minimum os x version is 10.3 currently .. this might change later though .. it will not run on os9 or lower, altough it is carbon and not cocoa based .. but that has different reasons (i just dont like obj-c)

Will this Mac version work with regular SC, or only Broodwar?

Please make it compatible with regular SC...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-06-14 at 12:40:14
It will be compatible with both SC Vanilla and SC BW.
But you would have to make the map compatible with SC Vanilla by not placing anything related to BW.

Awesome.

In that case, add me to the list of willing mac victims...err, beta testers.

I used to have a PC that I used for gaming, including Starcraft. I had starforge on it and everything, including anti-hacks and hacks so that I could test the anti-hacks in my maps.

Then in typical PC fashion it died and took everything I made on it with it sad.gif . For some reason, any PC I use, even ones at school, die after a couple of years of my using them. Fortunately, I still had my older maps on my old iMac, so I didn't lose everything. If I had, I probably would have stopped playing starcraft.

I think I'd be happy to do some beta testing... just don't make me do alpha! If you guys do the whole 'prerelease' thing, then I'll sign up.
