Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> A cloned person

Of course not! I mean the clone obviously has no soul, duh!

Anyway some group of extremists would probably assassinate the clone as soon as they found out a human got cloned tongue.gif

Seriously thought, I wouldn't see the clone as a replacement, I would see him as a totally seperate person with his own thoughts and feelings and personality. He couldn't possibly be the EXACT same as the other one, since environment probably affects a lot, and no one experiences the same exact thing as another person. Even though they may react and think alike I would just look at him as someone else.

Plus, I'm sure if you were suddently told you were a clone you would want to be your own person wouldn't you? I'm sure if the clone knew he was a clone he wouldn't like the idea of doing the exact same thing as the original, or at least being told he's exactly the same as the original and just a clone.

Even though it may be a clone, and exactly like the original. It is a different person.

O.o The clone has no soul, I know it's not possible to copy that soul... probably will never goto heaven or hell or become a ghost.

Well, you guys are missing a major detail about cloning.
Clones may be genetically the same, but they start out life as babies. The clones your talking about would be fully matured to the age which the original was, which by todays standards would be near impossible. In the future if this were possible, it would be easy to reconfigure the brains structure so they have the same emotions and feelings as the person who died. But it is a question if the clone would be able to recognize you.

yes i would care. havign a clone is nice, but it just isin't the same. You know deep down it is a constructed being that is just a copy of another being.

What if the Super Constructive Nerd made a fast duplicate clone before the real person died?

I would care, but I wouldn't treat the clone as if they weren't human.

You guys make it sound like a clone is an "object".

Yeah but I really don't think the clone is a object.

What if it they cloned the friend's brain too? (lol)

Unless you believe in souls, it's not gonna matter. Considering they're somehow 100% the same. Except 1 is a copy of another. There's no difference what so ever, except the new one will now have some taboo thing with the rest of the people he meets when he tells them he's a clone. Therefore treating him different, and making him think different about himself.

A human is a human. We make humans all the time, it's called sex. Sorry if I said anything anyone else has posted. I've only skimmed through this thread.

They could clone the brain, but it would make no difference.

OR inserted his/her memories...

Maybe 100 years in the future, but no. It is impossible to get ones memories, because all they are, are chemicals in the brain. The neurons in your head get triggered like after seeing something familier, smelling something familier, ect... And then the chemicals are released to trigger the brain into "Remembering" a specific event. Your brain stores these memories in the sub-consious, and the chemicals bring out the memories.

If you physically clone a person to have the exact same genetic makeup and everything then I think it comes down to Nature vs Nuture. I think the person will change as he experiences different things from the original. Now if hypothetically somehow in the future they were able to recreate and implant every detail of the original into the clone then I guess it would be a replacement, but I think it is pointless and takes away the individuality in the clone and just forces him to be a "replacement" for the original. I don't think it would matter much to create a clone, but let the clone become his own self.

I wouldn't care if they were exactly like the original.
