I just bought a usb key(512mgs), and now i can carry all my maps with only a few megabites, and then still put music, videos, programs and all-n'-all on that thing. I highly recommend getting one if you and your destination have a usb port, which I'm sure they do.
Btw, my computer dosen't have a floppy drive, it's too "new".
mine didnt
and i need to use a floppy to get the drivers from the internet to my non-internet computers.
Just get a floppy drive, if you don't, you will regret it at some indeterminable time in the future, trust me, they cost what, 20$? Its worth it to pay 20$ to get a medium thats compatable with everything, so yes, I reccomend you keep the floppies, even if they are slightly archaic.
If its one of those preconfigured computers you're getting, just add a floppy drive yourself, it is EASY.
i have a floppy drive. but i dont have it in. when ever i put a floppy in, i can barly read it. then, when im done with em. my comp spits out flaming broken floppies. (no its not the drive. i swapped out 3 diffrent floppy drives) so. i have gaven up with floppies. now to back up my stuff. here's what i do. i have 2 drives first one has stuff and windows. second has just files and crap. therefor, i have a program backup all stuff i want backed up on the second one. so if i get a really bad virus (never happens anymore) i pull it out. take it to another comp. have it on lockdown and full scan it with norton. also, i have a jumpdrive, and a BRAND NEW! CD/DVD r-rw, + - format, dual layer, and LIGHTSCRIBE drive. it. friken PWNS. and i keep a folder on my spare HD, where i put all the install files for important programs. like, every thing i've downloaded and crap. then i just burn it to a RW cd every once in a while.
neither of my main computers have floppys. you dont need them nowadays.
actually you do. the schools are so fricken cheap that the only way to trancefer info both ways is floppy. they have windows 98 so no jump drive drivers. and they wont let you install anything. the cd drives cant write.
Oh, yeah! I have a portable Hard Drive...
