What if you and the other 900 million

Omg the US population tripled overnight!

Think about how much in the way of dirty products is being used - coal, oil, nuclear cells etc.

Now this doesn't really apply to alternate sources of energy, which are usually impeccably environmentally-friendly. We'll all save money and resources. The biggest things that people should be concerned about are turning off electronic devices not used overnight. Exceptions would be like my computer in my room. I actively run a bot or two in my clan channel, and I keep AIM up in case people need to urgently message me. My PC also runs as my stereo. However, there is absolutely no reason to keep a television on in the living room overnight, or to not turn an oven off after baking a pizza. If it's not too hot try putting your ACs on power saver (like at 70 degrees Fahrenheit or something). You'll be amazed at the $$ you (or whoever pays the bills) save each month. Why not save money by pushing a silly little button to turn off the power or flick a switch? It really doesn't take that much effort.

I said 900 million or whatever amount because I didn't know. Way to misquote me.

??? People actualy have TV overnight? I usually turn off most of the electronics, except the fridge smile.gif
The only thing that's working in my room (day) is my PC

I don't think that anyone was saying that it wouldn't save money, or it wasn't a good thing to do (except MrrLL...), but we were saying that the savings by just telling SEN members is negilible, and most people already know to do this anyway.

It costs like twenty extra cents to keep your computer on 24/7.

All SEN members who live in North America, Please TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTERS, YOUR A/C (Air Conditioning), YOUR LIGHTS, ETC. WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING THEM!! If you don't we're going to get another blackout because of insufficient power...and I know you wouldn't want that. No power = No A/C and no computers for all you no-lifers out there. tongue.gif

I agree 100%, We have 300 watt lightbalbs and that is really high. We only put them on when really neccessary. Sense i LIke in Texas now. We always Use A/c because of the intense Temperature. I think it is sometimes important to keep it on. We never used to use it in Canada. Even when it got to 30 we didn't. We had many ways to cool down smile.gif.

What's your reasoning? I'm sure Japan uses a lot of energy too.

i think thats stupid. He is just telling you the importance of electricity in the Us. Japan has nothing to do with us.

Apparently not, about 3 people in here said they leave their computers on to run a stupid bot. Many more make claims that their electricity will never run out. Were you living in NA last summer? What do you think caused that blackout? Some people are so thick.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-07-20 at 19:30:56
That isn't the point. Sure, sometimes things will black out. But electricity is renewable

So therefor, we will never run out of any. All we would have to do is build a new and improved power plant.

In the Summer we use a lot of energy. Everythings running at near capacity (where I live, as I've been informed) with AC on in everyones house. When people start leaving everything on, doing stupid poo.gif like leaving refridgerator doors open it starts to break past capacity. BAM! Black out for a week, with nothing to do but moan about how hot it is. He just wants to inform as many people as he can, and instead you people decided to moan about how you're illiterate and can't read his post. Or at least, that's what I got from your posts.

And plus, there is no reason to inform SEN cause it wouldn't matter. I guess I just can't comprehend why he posted this to try to inform SEN (When I live in a village where power will always be there)

And just because I like to point out pointless things, doesn't mean I am iliterate....

Fine then, you guys can call me stupid but don't come crying to me when there's no power. And as PsychoTemplar said, you all misunderstood my post. I clearly said to turn off all your idle electronics. Kellimus, why did you report his last post? He is right you know...

Because I was told by the mods, that instead of crying and bickering about being insulted, use "the damn report button" (Thank you Kame)

You're only taking his side because it "Backs You Up"

OT: I think if you're going to use report, don't point it out and say "reported" if you're going to do that you might as well not even report it, it's like reporting a spam post, and then replying and saying omg spam!

On topic:

I don't think the issue about saving energy is to necessarily prevent a blackout, but to conserve all the nonrenewable resources we use to create the electricity. Even if we aren't running near capacity, eventually there will be a limited amount of resources to generate the electricity, unless we find a great source of power. Things like oil, are running out. I think people would rather use those resources for things like fueling a car than to leave a refrigerator door open.

As for me, I like to keep the air conditioner on when I'm in my room, though once I feel it's too cold I turn it off for a bit. When I go to sleep I put it on like a 2 hour timer so it doesn't run through the night. I also turn off my computer whenever I go out, or go to sleep. I don't like the thought of leaving it on ALL night unattended.

If everyone knows a vital peice of information, and they pass it on to as many people as they can, and those people pass it on to people they know you get a pretty good number of people who know. He just being a good citizen (staying informed, keeping other people informed, and keeping in mind what's best for one's 'home'). Sadly, there are few good citzens left.

The key to reading is taking in all the information. The information missed here was: "WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING THEM!!"

Read the posts he recieved in response, now that you are enlightened on his point.

Devilesk, I doubt anyone here cares what you do. You're not the model person.
