What are you talking about? Starcraft hasn't lost very many people at all, even with WoW and WC3 have come along. Starcraft is doing perfectly fine, please know what you're talking about before you talk.

I think people are going to use these as a big support for making maps, leaving Mac users ought in the cold. Plus, some of this stuff just bugs up the map and isn't really useful at all. Starcraft's melee has enough depth and strategy, it doesn't need UMS, UMS is essentially the icing on the cake.

Its great to hear almost everything is possible. Now how much longer will it take us to find a way to get rid of that annoying 255 location limit?

Who the hell needs to use 255 locations when you can resize them and use grids?

LoL, and this is like pouring around six gallons of sugar into the icing.

UMS isn't even deserving of the "icing", considering that icing makes the cake better. UMS is like the glass of milk that you get with cake, it washes down the cake and gives you something for when you can't eat anymore cake.

I want to see if some one can get rid of that stupid CCMU :poo: I always hear XD

So, devilesk, just out of curiosity, is sen still not the cutting edge? tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-07-28 at 01:53:06
SEN may be cutting edge, but I still don't see many good maps coming out tongue.gif Especially ones that use any new concepts that have been discovered. Not these specifically, but all the older stuff too.

I didn't know death counters went above 256? It appears to go beyond 65535.

It's a 4-byte long making the max 2^32 or 4294967296.

There really is little limit to this.

You can't remove hard limits though.

Wow thats really cool with this new techniques/technologys we can start making maps with stuff in usually only possible with mods. As other posts have said which editor doesn't crash????? FaZ- i have to agree blizzard are either going to let sc go down the drain or keep it going good

Ok, Based on what knoledge i have here are some cool stuff to know

1-30 = Terran units
30-50= Zerg Units
50-80= Protoss units

Depending if you have a terran unit mixed with a zerg or protoss unit that has short range the attack will do no damage. But if you have any far ranged unit then it will attack and cause damage.

100-900 are buildings

anyways i found something very intresting also.
i was messing around and i did something like this

death counter blah blah and i had a very high number something like 58129 or something.

And the unit was there i just couldnt see it. and if i went to look for it i got dropped.
Basically this new technology can be used as anti-hacks or many other things for hackers.

If the death counter is to high of a number you will be dropped from the game. NO COUNTERS OVER 1000 ARE ALOUD basically. and yes i did test this

Basically some ID's that are 1-1000 may drop you.

As posted in the thread, here's a calculator for converting the hex 6-digit memory offsets to UIDs and player numbers.

Guys you can't change the values because they are serverside, which causes you to get disconnected does anyone besides myself understand this?

The most interesting new article since i got here.. about 1.5 months ago.. or later.. Well if this proves to be quite easy to use, im 100% supportive, but if it takes loads of triggers to make one marine have shields.. sly.gif

You guys have no idea what you talk about.

Server side? No units over 1000? Seriously, WTF.

Unit ID goes to 65535. You only "drop" if you do something when you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

Many of these WILL change after a new patch.

DK gets credit for making Blizzard make two patches since of his actions. woot woot.

# Changing unit graphics?

Posible, Deathknight showed me a map in which a Marine had the wireframe of a Carrier and the unit portrait of Tassadar. Which means it was a Hero-Carrier. It also attacked like it too, I don't know about the unit sounds though.
Even though the unit ID might've been that of a Marine, it's still just a Hero-Carrier with a Marine Sprite.

Meaning, you can't directly change the graphic, but you can change the properties of the units to make it look the other way around.
Instead of changing the graphic to make a Marine look like a Firebat, change the properties of a Firebat to match those of the Marine.

Think behind the articles people, maybe you can even revert some of these things that DK discovered. I don't fully understand how Blizzard uses these values but logic tells me that the Starcraft Engine uses certain values to keep track of things. In this case a certain death Count for a certain player is an upgrade, there could be another value to un-upgrade.

That map most likely changed the graphic of the Gantrithor to a marine. oops, I was wrong. Oh well, either way works. This way would change them all, his just changes that one.

Upgrades are just one byte that counts up every time you upgrade. They are reset each new game.

does anyone know where the hotkey offsets are?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DiscipleOfAdun on 2005-07-28 at 13:14:32
Some hotkeys are determined in Stat_txt.tbl, which is beyond the memory range we can change, I think.

BOOYAH! Changing terrain in-game, and even perhaps moving it without mods!

I posted something about that a while ago in concepts, and EVERYBODY said my idea was bull:poo:. And now it come true thanks to deathknight.

Read my post on pg. 12 of the concepts thread. I'm sure you'll understand how it works.
