Alright, say the person plays a modest 150 notes a minute. Each note, we'll say, takes a mean of four fingers to finger. 600 fingers to take care of, or a mean of moving a finger every tenth of a second. Then you have a host of variables, including breathing, technicalities, musicalities, and more things to think of than I can really list here while you play each note.

*Edit* I hate that song. I'm sure that it's theoretically possible for a woodwind to play.

You get to practice each song slowly and memorize it.

You don't get suprised in the middle of the song by a god damn lurker drop in your main.

You don't have to make it up as you go along.

You don't have to strategize.

You get time to memorize each unit's stats and advantages as well. This is similar to learning the notes because it has nothing to do with playing.

Sure you do, I hate those dumb G# and D# in E major (I play violin).

There are people who do that all the time. They're called composers.

But you have to be musical!

Give me a break, you're so lame. You don't even understand Starcraft basics, so I don't see how I'm going to go about setting you straight.

Memorizing unit stats and counters is no different from learning the notes, how to play each note, etc. That isn't what's hard in either one.

Most anyone with a few hours a week practice can become profficient at music; the same can not be said of Starcraft. The sheer speed that the game is played at is enough to make most people give up. There is a first person video I want you to watch: Nal_Ra vs. JulyZerg. Nal_Ra isn't that fast of a player, byou will be amazed at how much is happenning at once. Once I find it I'll link to it.

edit: While I'm looking for it, this is a really good game that switches to first person at one point. Besides being a great game (THAT REACH WON DESPITE HUGE MAP IMBALANCE), it has a taste of how fast Broodwar is, and how much you have to think on your feet.

Don't try to talk about speed until you've heard something like flight of the bumble bee. Ok, thanks.

Also, I'm pretty sure I know more about melee than you do.

No, you absolutely don't: you suggested harassing with 4 mutas, man. I can beat you with any race.

About speed: When you play that song, you aren't making it up as you go along (and when you do make up songs as you play, it doesn't require 10% of what BW does), and I'm pretty sure that most songs aren't 20-60 minutes long.

You know what? You're absolutely right! I'm going to stop talking now because it's quite obvious I am wrong. Please accept my apologies.

Cheeze! I'm wrong too. I think that we had best shut up because we don't know anything about music or Brood War!

Ha, thats freaking awsome. Ok everyone Ihatett is correct, playing Music isn't Playing Starcraft. And this defently relates to game speed.

Bye Bye
