This quote was created back when SC was first released. Back then WC3 hadn't existed. Maybe they changed their business tactics. Who knows, the point is you can't take a 7 year old quote out of context like that and think it still holds value.

There is a similar quote to this in the Starcraft: Ghost section of their website

QUOTE(Blizzard: Starcraft: Ghost)
Is this StarCraft II?
No.

Will there be a StarCraft® II? When?
Although we have not made any announcements and do not have a development or release timeline, we do fully intend to revisit the world of StarCraft on PC at some point in the future.

Also, I CANNOT see them getting any rights at all to selling a MOD, based on the warcraft 3 engine, created by a 3rd party.

About the WC3 engine:

It's much too easy to cast spells in that game, and the whole game feels less responsive. Starcraft wouldn't work when you could use spells with no effort.

Are you saying SC: Ghost's offical site was created in 1997?
QUOTE
...I think it's a pretty good idea. Look at the units/structures separately. I think they were done fairly well, and most of them look very much alike with their respective sprites.

That's great but then can do better since WC3 is almost 3 years old, SC should get a better more badass looking graphics not just the same graphics as WC put into SC. If this has affect on SC2 if it's ever made and it looks cartoony i'll be blamming all of you.

QUOTE(Shapechanger @ Sep 24 2005, 12:06 AM)
Except in games. Um, hold on.
*Goes back and reads*
Yeah, we are talking about games.
What do you know?

Once again, my point still stands. You don't have to be a programmer to have that kind of common knowledge, quit trying to make yourself out to be holier than most everyone around. I was actually about to go on a rant here how those who can "program omfgomfgomfgomfg" get worshipped like gods while they look past the fact that they're still elitist condescending pricks, as I've said earlier.

First off, 2005 - 7 = 1998. That, and SC was released before September. Here are the two quotes:

SC:Ghost:
"Although we have not made any announcements and do not have a development or release timeline, we do fully intend to revisit the world of StarCraft on PC at some point in the future."

SC:
"We have not announced any current plans for StarCraft II. We are all very close to the worlds and characters we created in the original game and the expansion set and while we do intend to revisit that universe, we have no plans to do so at this time."

Now, they contain pretty much the same info, although I was wrong about where the quote originated from. Also, the website for SC:Ghost I believe was created 2.5/3 or so years ago, when PR wasn't the mod it is today (most of it looked like total crap back then, not to mention it didn't have a formidable website.)

Once again, SC looks "cartoony". It's not meant to be realistic.

Besides, I have no idea why you're arguing about SC2 being made out of this mod. It's extremely unlikely, no need to get up in arms about pure speculation. The execs at Blizzard aren't complete retards, they know as much as you do how old the WCIII engine is.

I think PR is doing a pretty decent job; much better than other mods who attempted to do the same thing.

they intend to revist SC on PC that could mean another FPS for all I know. Not another RTS. I dont think there will be another RTS for starcraft, the current sc story is just 2 closed for me to think of a good story for a second game.

Also, the wc3 engine has barely hit the time where it was meant to be at. Its in a 3d world requiring more power. in 2001 when it came out the general public didnt have computers that powerful yet. Now they do. If they created the wc3 graphics to be more realistic it would have lagged way more than it does now. Like insane lagging. They say that sc 4 wc3 will have a lot more units because of the cap and food prices. Also things like mass overlords and carriers. now just imagine playing that with more "realistic graphics" only a small percentage of people would be able to play it.

now about the about the mod and what you think of its progress and what its "attempting" to do.

I don't think playing it in 3D will be as good as 2D.

Also in the views of the screenshots, the units just look dumb, and they seem really big and bulky.

Why not??? Have you ever played wc3. Its fun. In 3D you get to have some sick ass mapping too. They only seem that way because the screen shot is so zoomed. Fit that onto your screen and tell me that. image normal sc on your screen. It would be tiny.
